This tip jar script is a great way to learn some LSL programming! Everybody has one, why not customize your own? The script is fully documented and commented, and is easy to follow. The script thanks people with their display name, displays hover text with the total of tips and last tipper, notifies the owner of a tip, and can optionally display a particle shower, or play a sound. Full permissions.
UPDATED 4/2021 : I made a small change to the Pay buttons, and while I was at it, I had received a negative review on this script because it was "only as script" and not a tip jar. I did explain to her that scripts were listed with scripts, but she was a little (lot) dense and felt her bad review was warranted since, after all, everything in SL should be free. So, to please ImaKaren Resident I've included a tip jar that is modifiable and can be copied but not transferred. I hope that Karen approves.

Awesome! Best simple tip or donation script on the market!
After spending 700 L on ten tip or donation scripts, NONE of which I could figure out how to make do what I wanted, I found this one for ZERO lindens. I wanted to customize the hover text, change its color, remove any mention of the owner, customize the message to donors, and, above all, REMOVE the last amount tipped, the total tips, and the name of the donor. I am ignorant of all scripting. But this brief, clear script, annotated for noobs, was easy for me to customize. Not everything was spelled out, but the script was so simple and elegant I could figure out what to do when it wasn't stated. At each step, I reset and copied in case I goofed later. But I didn't make a single mistake. Unbelievably simple. And free! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Worked Great Once I Figured It Out
The note card says to add to unpack. Then clicking on the link in card did nothing. If you want to use the script in an object besides the included tip jar, Rez the included tip jar, edit it, go to contents and open the script. Then you can copy the lines of code into a new script or I suppose you could copy it and then drag it to your new object. Then just read the tips included in the script. Works great and you can add your own texture to display when someone tips. Thank you.

I gave this four stars ... why not five? I could not see a way for a tipper to put in a custom amount. I know I will get complaints about the fixed amounts which are easily changed. The particles are really cool. Sadly for the reason above I am still looking for that perfect TipJar script. Thank You for making this free to the SL community.

Long story short: I got this, I rezzed it, it's awesome, it works fast, easy, just rez and good to go.
What's not to like? Brilliant work :)
