Quite an Improvement Over the Default Texture
To me it seems that this is a rather difficult boat to texture, and trying to get too detailed fails on account of the possible resolution you have to work with. I think this is a good solution, to keep it more simple. You might think that the word "black" implies that you are going to end up with a dark boat, but the interior actually gains a lot in lightness. Anyway, I also think too much attention is given to the transparency of sails and to me it might seem more "realistic" in rl terms, but in practical use in SL, you have to always look around your sails anyway. So I like how these sail textures look and the question of if they are transparent enough to me is purely academic.
