This device will automatically update your active group according to a simple list of regions & groups. You will always have the appropriate group tag, whether you are visiting you favorite RP sims, touring shops for group gifts or hopping between clubs.
Config via a simple notecard to list region/group combinations. It is possible to set a default group for all unlisted regions, and/or unset your group to "none".
The device locks itself when worn so there is no need to remember to keep it attached when changing outfits. Simply 'touch' to unlock to detach (or edit config).
Designed to be worn as a HUD, it is unobtrusive and requires no interaction so can be moved out of view (touch/edit via inventory). The script is small and lag free so you can wear it without worrying about lighting up lag meters.
*** PLEASE NOTE ***
March2019: Linden Lab & Firestorm have applied a limit for automated group changes to avoid the extra server load caused by "tag animator" devices. They are now capped to 1 per minute. Unfortunately the change impacts functionality of this device if you are TPing between sims at a rate of more than 1/minute. Travelling around the grid at a more sedate pace will be unaffected and the group changing will function normally, The device is not 'broken' but the Lindens have 'nerfed' it. I fully understand why it was done, I just wish the throttle was a little faster. Sorry, this is beyond my control.

NOTE: this device uses RLV, so it will not work with the default Linden Lab viewer, a Third Party Viewer and RLV option enabled are required.

Dec2016: added a tool to assist with config. Wear the object and it will report your current region name and active group, with a line ready to copy/paste into the AutoGroup hud config notecard. Existing customers please get the freebie/demo to obtain this tool
Hints & tips
~ Requires RLV, ensure that this feature is enabled in your viewer
~ Be sure to use SIM/REGION names, not PARCEL names. Copy from World Map
~ Group names can be copied from the Group Profile
~ Group UUID key can be used instead of group name
~ String comparisons in LSL are case sensitive, "SimName" is not the same as "SiMnAmE"

It works great!
I have yet to see it fail to work. Seems almost instantaneous even in very laggy sims. Once you understand the syntax, the notecard is easy to set up and modify. A great value for those stores where you must wear the group tag to get credit on purchases. How many times have I forgotten to put on the tag!!! Also great for visiting friend's houses where you must wear the group tag to be able to rez. Great work and I recommend this highly.
I love automatically changing tags
This easy to use HUD is wonderful--It changes some of my naughtier tags to more approriate tags for this sim explorer. Two tips... to correctly enter the region, you may want to view it on the map and copy and paste--this can reduce similar spellings or extra spaces between words. And, when you view your group's profile, you can triple click on the name to copy the whole name--again, including any extra spaces that may be hidden. I love it!
Okay, bit tricky to get working.
Had trouble getting the setup correct. The notecard needs to have directions to enable RLV. For those about to give negitive reviews, i will help. click Prefrences, go to Firestorm tab, first option on the page should be Enable RLV. Hope this helps.
Probably the best gadget I have ever bought
This is terrific! I am a shop owner with several secondary shops in malls and at clubs. I don't know how many times I have tried to rez something at one of my shops just to be told I couldn't because I forgot to change my tag to the correct one. Also, going to some of my favorite shops and clicking the group gift just to be told I wasn't wearing my group tag. This fixes all of that. Setup was easy, just adding locations and group names to a notecard. Now every time I go to any of my shops (or back home to build something new) or go to my favorite stores I am automatically wearing the right tag. This is WELL WORTH much more that 50 lindens! This is AWESOME! I would give it more than 5 stars if I could.
Fantastic hud & Customer service
So easy to set up & I am so glad I got this. It is such a help & I need to change tags frequently so it is a real must have for me. No more relogs because of not changing tags etc. Just love it! I had a question about sims & got an answer & nice message in a very short time. The product & customer service is great. Flawless transaction.
