As someone who's always loved the skyboxes and little pocket universe, and generally loved anything that alters the surroundings to simulate a different world, i had to get this. only issue ive ever had with these is a relatively small one, but its just that i wish i had an option to toggle the music. I know i can turn my volume down, but that sacrifices all other sound related stuff in SL haha. Sometimes it's a bit of a sensory overload having constant music, but again this is literally my only con.
The build itself, looks great. It's simple to use, the concepts for the simulations are good, its a decent size and honestly it's not too heavy on prims. I cant wait to incorporate this into my home (Which has a limit of 450LI, which i think is totally acceptable for a product that potentially reaches 150 at most)
Great work, As usual :)
There's really nothing quite like this
So, it's a giant cube that rezzes small, abstract, ambient scenes, each with a visual theme and musical track. Some are absolutely mesmerizing, and overall it's just a fantastic thing to zone out in.
However, for a device whose best purpose is relaxation, it works against itself in some ways. For one, unless rezzed as a permanent fixture somewhere, it can be quite challenging to actually get in and out of in sims where flight isn't allowed. This isn't like Void's wealth of personal skyboxes attached to its various HUDs, which seem intended to be rezzed and derezzed on the fly- You really need a place to drop this for the long haul.
That raises the other issue. This thing gobbles up prim like there's no tomorrow. The engine itself is weighty as it is, but many of the scenes are tremendously prim-heavy, and there isn't really a convenient guide to which ones cost what without rezzing, checking, and memorizing manually. As such, casual users may find themselves quite limited as to where they are actually able to use this device.
As difficult as it is to use this clunky, beautiful thing without being reminded of Void's other tremendously convenient lightweight ambient skyboxes, it's important to remember the DSE isn't pretending to be one of those. It is a luxury item, not only in its prohibitive cost, but in who will be able to use it. This should absolutely be considered before purchasing: I love these scenes, but I will probably find very few opportunities to show them off.
Still. I adore this concept, and deeply hope the maker will consider a more lightweight and portable version of this kind of product in the future- they have more than proven their ability to make absolutely incredible ambient skybox scenes with very low land impact, and a collection of their visions such as this but on more on the scale of their Pocket Universe product (an amazing gacha, highly recommended) would be an enormously exciting accomplishment.
Beautiful scenes!
From SciFi to beaches this has it all, and it's fantastically made and scheme less. I would recommend this to anyone wanting something different out of their skybox experience.
Extremely well made
This is perfect for when you want somewhere to hang out with friends, or to relax in, and the music for each simulation is an awesome touch, I highly recommend it!
As always perfect
The scene is very spectacular and beautiful. After watching the demonstration video, I am sure I must get it!LOL
A themebox system worth every penny
A very well made system that is both power and beautiful, very perfect for photoshoot or RPing
