It's good.
The avatar is beautiful (except for the paws) and the textures are fantastically detailed. I love that there's a size for everyone, from tiny fae dragons up to ancient wyrms. But it still needs work.
As of v1.8, Heka is much improved but still a bit laggy for a busy RP sim... but really everything is laggy in RP sims. It's easy enough to turn off Heka motion when you're laggy and it seems to work better than it has in previous versions. I am still of the opinion there should be a simpler mode with a standard AO so that everyone can be happy.
I think the larger sizes probably add to this feeling of unresponsiveness, since they don't turn on a dime like the smaller ones can... but this is a feature of Heka, isn't it? Realistic movement for the size of the avatar. Something to keep in mind for those thinking about buying this.
The breath weapon is long overdue and pretty neat, but I wish that the 'normal' version and the 'EX' version's particles matched, colorwise. Not sure why there couldn't have been a rudimentary customization HUD included. Even the particle customization of the pre-bento version would still be fine.
I wish that mod tools would be made available. I still have the texture kit from the pre-bento version, but those who didn't have the previous version are out of luck. The third party products available for other dragon avatars may well be leaving the DC in the dust. I would love to one day get ahold of a rigging dummy so that I can try my hand at making D&D accurate heads and wings.
Complex, different and much more than just a feral dragon avatar.
It have a huge ton on options depending of the lag sim, can be customized (if you have hand with editing), moves really nice, with a tons of animations for almost everything, and with each update, it get more content (remote avatar, gestures, fire, etc)
It's true that still having some small bugs, but with each version it works better and better, so no worry with this point.
I was using feral dragon avatars from really long time, and definitively this one is one of the best I tried, maybe can be a bit expensive, but I definitively worth it.
Ling time review
I have used the Feral dragon for a long time, even before the Bento version came out. Naturally, I was excited like many others for its release. After using it for quite some time now, I can honestly say that I am very satisfied, with the product. The animations are unlike any ive seen in SL with other, good dragon themed products. With the different sizes, and all the different skins, and with my place in the role-play community, this has been, and always will be my Go-to avatar when I need a dragon!
I do miss the effects and such from the old one, but, in truth, I am more thrilled about how this one moves and looks than whether or not it can breathe ice or fire, etc.
Long bumpy ride but overall worth it
I originally purchased the non-bento version of this dragon, and I love it, so when the bento one came out, there was no question about getting this upgrade, regardless of the cost. The original AO and movement system was - shaky. Its like learning to play a new game within a game to master movement quirks with this beauty, but each update has improved quality and function of this dragon. We're now on v 1.8 with the added fire breathing and other effects, there have been a slue of underlying updates incorporating both the new movement and basic SL movement options. While its been over a year to get these ironed out, patience is a virtue. The creator has an RL just like the rest of us, and its amazing what he's been doing. I can only see this getting better and better as time goes on.
Is it pricey for this avatar? you bet. I spent a total of 7,700L to have both non bento and bento versions of it. Do I regret it? Nope. I've tried other dragon avatars on my alts and this one is, hands down, the one that suits my story and my character.
Do be aware that there is a learning curve - the documentation is extensive and should be read, kept, referred to - you'll need it because that's you cheat sheet to learning how everything works. That said, this is an exceptional dragon.
Beautiful dragon avatar; AO needs work.
This has to be the best looking feral dragon avatar that I have ever seen on Second Life. However the one problem that I do have with the remastered version is with the new AO that comes with it. I preferred what came with the original avatar but it is still a work in progress and hopefully it will eventually have an update that makes the AO and avatar options as good as the old version. I would highly recommend this avatar to any dragon lover.
A wonderful avatar.
This is the best dragon av that I have ever seen. It has wonderful texture quality. Smooth animations. Different sizes and a better looking model then those that I have seen. It is so worth the lindens to buy
