This is the free demo version of the MLCC Oceanic sailboat.
See item in Second LifeA boat for entertaining, not sailing
The Oceanic is a beautiful looking yacht. I like the detail and features that comes with it but I am not happy with its handling. I found she slid across turns creating oversteer.
great
ive been using this one for awhile very good you all an ill give it 5 stars im working towards getting the non demo
Great boat but has a few problems.
I have probably put about 20 hours into sailing this Demo. It is a very impressive piece of work. I would give it 5 stars if it were modifiable and sailed to windward better. This boat sails pretty well, and is easy to use, but does not sail well to windward. All three of the boats that I have owned in RL would sail up to 45 degrees towards the wind, this one struggles to do 70-80 degrees, which makes windward progress a pain in any race or situation where you don't want to change the wind direction setting just to make it easier for yourself. If he could improve that it would be an excellent simulation of a real sail boat in the way it behaves.
My first real SL sailing experience
I can't say I really have anything to compare with, I've only used smaller sailboats before. Setting out in this one I expected some tricky techniques to be required. But it was a peaceful and fantastic trip, the boat really feels like your extension. It crosses sims with no problems, it is beautiful to look at, you can get fenders out and drop anchor and such too. If and when I decide to be a sailor, this will be the boat I consider first.
Lets go sailing!
I didn't get the Oceanic, but got the Loonetta instead.Last I checked, they don't sale it on MP,have to get it in-world.Sailing the Oceanic or the Loonetta is so much fun.Took me a bit to get used to controlling the sails and wind direction, but once I did the most fun I'd had on SL in awhile. The look, quality, detail and textures, all can I say about them is WOW! All the other boats I looked at this nice are hundreds of prims, and the Oceanic and Loonetta are only 32,no attaching anything to your avi,and I can leave it out at my dock without taking up tons of prims. Both have the smoothest sim crossing of all the boats I've tried out, hardly noticeable.Very easy to drive,so smooth. Can take lots of friends or family out for a fun day out on the sea.Nice animations as well.Enuff said,if you get this demo,I guarantee you'll get the full version. The full versions of either one is well worth the price. Now he needs to build a speed/ski boat to take out friends for a fun day of skiing, tubing,or wake boarding, and I'd buy that one as well.
