Draw clothes, skins, tattoos or whatever you want, directly onto the SL avatar model! Texture design software for Windows (XP, Vista, Win7, Win8; 32 or 64 bit).

It's been nearly 10 years since I first released AvPainter, and now it's time to say goodbye. I will no longer be able to offer any support, and there's no further development planned, so I'm making the software available to everyone for no charge.

Current owners, you can download the new version using the url you previously used. Re-rez your AvPainter Computer object in world to get the url again.

AvPainter is a tool to aid the creation of clothing for Second Life, allowing you to preview clothes and draw directly onto the avatar model. It is a separate application that runs in Windows, outside of Second Life, exporting targa (.tga) texture files to upload into SL.

You buy the AvPainter package which contains these instructions and a AvPainter Computer. The AvPainter Computer is a stylish computer model that you can keep out in your SL home if you wish. On rezzing, the AvPainter Computer will give you your own registration code and url for downloading the full version.

The full version of AvPainter occasionally checks for updates. You will be able to download any updates for AvPainter for no extra charge.

Although they can run side by side, AvPainter runs best without SL running. SL tends to grab a lot of texture memory and slows AvPainter a lot.

This is one of the best programs that ease the work load for SL clothing/skins designers ever made. If you have the chance to test it, you'll know what I'm talking about. No more textures uploaded to test our designs! Imagine how much you will save monthly. And the best of all: it supports graphics tablet. Justa a cool software that every SL designer must have. :D

This program is a must is you want the very best quality for your products, it's awesome for laying out a design and cleaning up seams, and the update just made it so much better, opening psd's directly into the program is a great idea, altho larger psd's will make the program run a little slower, but being able to clean seams on a new layer and then having it seperate to fine tune is pure sweetness, and new stamp tool is a godsend for working out mapping on that damn deformed male body!
awesome work and the update is more than I ever expected, this outclasses slcp in so many ways.

I agree that this application is a bit high on price, how ever; I found this application easy to use and it saves me a lot of time in creating the foundation for creating clothes. I use AvPainter to make the shape of the item I want to create and then import the file into Photoshop for the detail work, adding textures, shading, etc. I am a Graphic Designer and also work in 3D modeling and appreciate anything that speeds up the process. For the 'newbies' just starting out designing clothes this application will work well for you and help teach you the fundementals of making clothes. For those who have more experience, it helps you speed up the process. I do use a tablet and this application works well with it. If you can afford it, and want to start making clothes, then this is the program for you.

I was able to run this program alongside SL without any problems. I actually found this program pretty useful and fun to play with. Drawing on a mannequin directly helps me understand where those curves are. The old method of working with 2-D drawings over a UV map is still ok, but it is hard to line up the edges. This 3-D product lets you do touch-ups directly on it. Amazing. Now if only you can create texture maps for prims as well such as a sphere or torus...

This is a product well worth my first review!
I LOVE this, even though I haven't even finished my first outfit. This is a GREAT tool for lining up seams, which I have certainly had my fair share of while making stuff for other virtual programs. Being able to draw right on the figure is what really sold this program for me, and I am so glad I found this before I got really heavy into creating clothes for SL. I know it would take me at least ten times as long to get a feel for where everything SHOULD go and then go back and forth between the client and Photoshop to get it "as close as possible." Instead with AvPainter I was able to draw out my initial placement for my opacity map within seconds, as well as draw in some other guide lines for future ideas! After fixing 'em up in Photoshop and using AvPainter to perfect the seams, I'm so excited that I want to do another opacity map! Kinda cheesy, but it feels great when I can get something done. ^_____^

I'm in love with this product, thank you so much for making it.

As a FAR better tool than the SL preview window, this is worth the price for that purpose alone (for those who might find this pricey--in real dollars/pounds/euros, it is about the same price as the programs one finds in the discount bin at the local computer store chain).

I liked the ability to touch up the edges, and found a bit of smearing with a medium opacity soft brush did wonders for eliminating the seams.

The one thing you cannot do with the program (and I did not expect) is "whole cloth" designing. Personally, I do most of my work via cut/paste/deform or "painting" textures with the clone brush. Quite obviously, one cannot do that with the basic tools of AvPainter. So, there are a few limitation (Lord, if I could only integrate my PSP with AvPainter.... Sorry! daydreaming over!)

Tech support was excellent, and Mr. Trollop sent me the links to the downloads I needed withing 24 hours of IM.

Again, very satisfied.
