The NorPhone PBX is a multi-purpose networking tool developed by Northbridge Business Systems for use on the Gentek Telecom network.
ALL NORPHONE PRODUCTS ARE ACTUAL FUNCTIONING TELEPHONES! They are the ONLY phones in Second Life that actually place and receive calls gridwide. You can talk to anyone with a NorPhone using text chat.
The NorPhone PBX is a specialized call routing tool used to create line splitters, phone trees, and holding queues. Incoming calls can trigger multiple phones to ring at the same time (split), be routed to a specific line depending on the caller's choice (dial tree), find a single available line in a call center (sequence), or hold the call with optional music until the "downstream" phone is available (hold). The PBX cannot make calls on its own, and cannot be used without connecting it to one or more other NorPhones.

Interesting how much can be adapted and customised... only thing missing from the phone system is like cellphones :)
You need it if you own a RP SIM or RP Business

Currently I use it in "Split" mode for our Emergency Services, so if someone dials 911 or the Police Hotline 311 all phones in PD would ring.
One of the most nerd-cool toys I've ever gotten!
The NorPhone system in general is one of my favorite things to play with in SL, with practical applications for RPers in addition to just being really fun and nostalgic, but this PBX is what really brings it all together. Setup can be a little intimidating, but it's not that hard once you get the hang of it (protip: To reduce redundant trips to the setup page for each device, set up your network bottom-up, not top-down, configuring endpoint phones first and adding PBXes and Attendants above them afterward). And if you, like me, are the kind of person who thinks spreadsheets and flowcharts are delightfully fun, you'll easily spend an entire weekend using this product to set up your dream phone network! Perfect if you run an RP city, business, or emergency services organization, but it's also extremely useful if you just have homes in multiple cities/estates and don't want to miss a call! If you like NorPhone, you need this, and
PBX for managing multiple office Phones.
I use this in combination with the NBS Office Phone and it works like a charm! Would buy it again!
