=OPEN=MER=TAIL=
Welcome to my project to unify mer tails in SL & OS under a single bento tail rig!
This tail is an entirely custom creation by me (Ghost Cloud)
as a gift to the SL mer community. Please enjoy it!
This tail currently fits the bodies:
- Maitreya Lara
- Belleza Freya
- Belleza Jake
- Legacy Athletic
- Must Trade Bara
PLEASE NOTE: OpenMerTail comes with NO ANIMATIONS. You will have to buy an AO!
Check the "Compatible AOs & Furni" Notecard for recommendations.
With this tail, you are permitted to:
- Use the tail as-is
- Edit the textures and sell BOM skins for this tail with whatever permissions you want
- Edit the tail mesh itself and sell remixes of the tail with whatever permissions you want
- Sell the tail mesh unedited WITH your own textures. (Not recommended, however, I'd link them the MP listing for tail updates.)
- Port the base tail to new bodies and contribute to the base project's library of supported bodies
(send me (Ghost Cloud) the blend file to submit your contributions!)
- Use this tail as a reference for making poses and animations
What you cannot do with this tail:
- Use the tail mesh & textures outside of Second Life and OpenSim in other games, such as VR Chat and The Sims.
(Obviously I can't stop you (this really isn't optimized for The Sims, either), but I'd prefer if you'd keep it to SL/Opensim, please!)
- Sell as a fullperm resource. That would, obviously, be disingenuous, as it's already a free fullperm resource.
- Sell the tail with no texture OR mesh edits. That's just lazy, c'mon.
TL;DR This is a fullperm resource for your own mer tail creations WITHIN Second Life & OpenSim!

This is a wonderful thing and fully worthy of five stars! Thank you for making this free.
How, though, do I reupload the blend file? I'm trying to mod it (I'm not new to Blender, but am to rigging) and no matter what I do, the mesh always stretches out to several times the length it should be when uploaded and worn. Even if I try uploading it completely unmodified. It's fine if just rezzed on the ground.
If you can help, I would really appreciate it (I'm trying to both make it fit the AES better, and learn about rigging). No worries though if you don't have time - I'll keep trying to figure it :)

Amazing tail, and I honestly can't believe it's free!
This tail is seriously amazing. The materials are gorgeous, and it's really easy to texture, plus it works well with the recommended Bento AOs that the creator lists in the included notecard. Not to mention the creator is amazingly responsive to questions about the tail, and provides excellent customer service despite this being a FREE item. Oh, and did I mention that all this comes for the low, low price of 0 Lindens? :D
Side note: please don't believe the previous reviewer who seems to not have read the NC. Try this tail on the Peach Boy Tala Bento Mermaid AO (there's a demo stand at the Peach Boy shop) and you'll be stunned by how well it moves. :)

Even if you're not a creator yourself, this tail is very "ready to wear" as it comes. Modding options are endless. I hope to see more things like this from our community to make us stronger, because this is just lovely!
