Sculpt Studio & Mesh Studio
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Sculpt Studio and Mesh Studio are in-world content creation tools, with additional web-based components.
They help SL content creators to bridge the gap between in-world building and the creation of Sculpts and Meshes.

The best way to learn about Sculpt Studio and/or Mesh Studio is by asking friends who already have experience. There are a lot of us in SL. If you need to find such a friend first, please visit our (very large) official support groups listed below.

useful but no substitute for something like 3ds Max

but this is inworld - however all the exports go to a website first then you gather the results from there - so not truly 'in world' so as long as the website exists it will work - dont know what happens if the website closes - you are in trouble i guess ;)

this is handy for rope 'pipework' so it can save a few prims say if you are making a rope with a lot of bends and this can be fiddly in external editors so its

good fun to use - albeit quite time consuming moving the layers one at a time shame there isnt some other method to have smaller ones rezzed from the word go or a global stretch/ deform - unless i missed that

very usefull 'slices' system for newbs and advanced alike worth 5 stars for its sheer genius of the inventor X)))xXP

This program along with the frequent new feature updates is priceless and the best thing I have ever spent my lindens on. The support group is only a click away and filled with the most friendly people I have ever chatted with. I am only limited by my imagination. Sculpt Studio allows me to see what I want in my head and put it in the SL world. Thank you for supplying a great #1 product!!

Cant belive I have owned and used Sculpt Studio for so long and havn't written a review, so here it go's. This little toy here rocks. At first it seems like alot to take on, being the tools that come packed into it. There is alot to learn in useing this studio, especialy if you dont totaly understand sculpties. i knew nothing about them when i purchased this. Buying this studio, and joining the group Sweet Sculpties (Wich is TheBlack Box's group dedicated for Sculpt Studio) Has taught me alot. In fact, has taught me almost everything I know about sculpties. It is the simple fact though, I know how to build well in Second life. Beacuse what i know in Second life, this is the sculptie program for me. After useing this studio for a short time, I have already started making some complex shapes. Having the help of the friendly people in Sweet Sculpties has taught me alot.

If your ready to take your building to another level, this is the toy for you. More or less, not as much a toy but a very powerfull tool. i would, and have, recomended this to everyone that has ever asked me about sculpties. Since then (Wich i have owned the studio for about 7 months, didnt pull it out till about 3 months ago) I have gotten a few friends to purchase it as well and am trying to help teach them as much as I can about it. So far they are having as much fun as I am with it. Its a great investment if you enjoy building in Second life. Its just gonna make your builds so much better :)

OK, I'm not that great with 3D modelling apps like Blender, in fact I'm clueless with the sculpting tools. But I *can* think in layers. If you can think in layers, too, Sculpt Studio will be very handy.

At first it appears complicated due to all the options. The beauty is that you can ignore most of them until you need them. Load one of the predefined sculpts and see how they're put together. Play around with things until you get used to the work flow, and then it's surprisingly easy to use.

Is it worth the money? If you're a genius with Maya, or Blender, or something, then maybe not. For everyone else, I'd say definitely, whether you've a hobby or business that relies on sculpties. This is what you're missing.

The instructions don't match. The Flip Chart has an extra step not covered in the written Documentation. Following step by step should be self-explanatory but isn't. You rezz a sliced shape, then build something on top of it that doesn't resemble the original item you rezzed. What's going on? The end of the basic instructions is only a hint of what may come next. Does not bode well for a newbie, much less an experienced builder. Programmers should never create documentation. They are too close to the product, they can't think like a 'civilian'. This civilian is not happy with the documentation at all.
