Q: Why is it free
A: There are several expensive pose stand, and some rather poor quality ones I’ve seen. I strongly believe that a good quality pose stand should be available to absolutely everyone in SL.

Superb
This has both natural and extreme poses which are great for testing my rigging. I was disturbed by the hoot sound on rez but discovered that can be turned off in Settings with the Mute switch. That's thoughtful, thank you.
Needs a poser remote hud, but still the best
As the case has been made hundreds of times already, this is indeed the best stand I and many others have the pleasure of using, but it isn't without opportunity for improvements. If the stand came with a remote HUD for controlling the poses, it would be easier to manipulate various poses without having to keep panning the camera from the perfect position just to see the pose controls.
