[Vaak] Bento Skateboard

Its a great board, really the only one you should worry about buying. Its missing a couple things like a grind animation. Not sure if its possible, but it would be nice to somehow limit your jump distance in SL so when you jump and do a trick, its more realistic and you don't fly 20ft off the ground, but I know thats SL's fault. Had a lot of fun just rolling around and playing with the tricks. To jump onto obstacles it seems to work best by jumping and pressing a trick at the exact same time. The manual is a little slow, would be cool if that could be sped up. Looking forward to seeing updates from this creator.

Looks good, works well, has full perm templates but actually has a good texture in the box..

They really need a NC *in* the box, though.

Took me about a half hour checking attachments and looking for anything *else* bento before I remembered to take your "bits" off and click *reset skeleton and animation* then add this again to work perfectly.

I think most of the problems people have here is from either not knowing, or not remembering, how to do bento stuff. We usually don't adjust that once it is on, and any major body changes like going between human and anthro or animal forms usually comes with a reset because of deformers, it doesn't always click in the mind that adding a skateboard needs to be treated like shapeshifting when there is no visible skeleton issues to remind you it is needed..

The only thing that I can see to improve this is to add a high priority bento hold animation that affects the right shoulder in the "off" state of the HUD. This overrides my AO perfectly when I am on the board, so I don't need to disable it to ride, but...

When I get off the board and take it in my hand my AO (All of them, not just one, I don't have a single AO that doesn't touch my face or hair and I have five separate AOs for different moods.) likes to reach up and I'm smashing myself in the face with the trucks every few minutes.

This skateboard makes the best use of the latest SL technology to bring you the most realistic skating experience. You can do tricks. Movement around is fluid. Yes, because your bento P or V or Tail or Wings etc. also use the same technology, those must be detached from your avatar for this to work, as the animations of those extra bones would compete with each other, destroying the function of both.

So Vaak Board allows you do tricks, has a speed boost that comes with it, but no sound when riding it. It's good just needs to allow the person to grind on stuff and do few tricks like in the Tony Hawk games.

So when i first attached everything, the board wasn't aligned correctly, and when i would do tricks, the board would go every where. i checked my left hind foot to see if there was anything attached there, there isn't. so i troubleshot a bit. I attached the hud first, then i manually attached the board to my left hind foot. now everything works well. If i were you, TessYrvaak, i would take my words here and maybe update your guide on how to use your skateboard, and or use them as a fix to peoples issues.

I had the same issue as some others here too - when I attached the board it was stuck somewhere in mid air.

I suspect it's to do with attachments that use the tail bone animations. When I took off my P and reset the skeleton (right click your avatar for the pie menu then click Appearance>Reset>Skel.and Anim) then reattached the skateboard it was in the right place. My partner had similar issues until she took her V off so if you wear a tail, a penis, a vagina or simply can't work it out take everything off - reset the skeleton and reattach the board. Then add your attachments back one at a time until you find the culprit.

Things to improve:
As mentioned elsewhere some sort of rolling sound would be nice.
An instruction notecard helping out with the issues just mentioned and help with the features - see below - ok who actually reads them - I personally do it when problems arise .

Verdict:
Its a super cool board and loads of fun to use.
The trick anims are super smooth and work like a charm
When you attach the HUD and both boards (the main and the hold one) the switch off button changes from standing to holding the board which is nice and a cool idea.
Fully mod - and the texture templates are great - making it easy to create your own textures
If you want a skate board - go get it
