The Whirly-Putter is a two-seater old-fashioned flying machine. A natural evolution from our popular Aero-Putter, the Whirly-Putter incorporates a number of advances and improvements. Propulsion and lift are provided by means of three propellers, driven by a powerful sealed-action clockwork motor. This motor uses advanced internal energy-conversion mechanisms which convert actual raw SL drama into useful kinetic energy. The abundance of free SL drama energy throughout the grid ensures that the Whirly-Putters will never, ever require recharge or refueling. The Whirly-Putter flies somewhat faster than the Aero-Putter, and offers a better view of the surroundings. As an added bonus, it is 100% environmentally friendly, as no combustive fuels are consumed whatsoever.
The Whirly-Putter Rezzer is a miraculous device which contains an inexhaustable supply of Whirly-Putter flying contraptions. It was created to allow island and resort owners to provide a fun and free flying-machine ride for their guests.
Just place the Rezzer anywhere there is some clear space around and overhead, and plant the included sign nearby. The Rezzer will rez a Whirly-Putter in position. The placement of the Rezzer determines the position and direction the flying machines face when they are rezzed. The Whirly-Putters require some clear area in which to rez and a clear path infront of and above them.
Once a flying machine has rezzed, any avatar can click on it to sit down and drive. As soon as they sit down, the propellers will spin and the Whirly-Putter will move forwards and upwards a bit, so that it is clear of the rez area. At this time, a second avatar may sit in the passenger seat if desired. A new Whirly-Putter will rez in about 5 seconds.
Controlling the Whirly-Putter is very easy. Forward and Back buttons run the motor in forward or reverse, while the Left and Right buttons turn the Aero-Putter as you would expect. The Up/Down keys let you gain or lose altitude. You can also 'slide' the Whirly-Putter from side to side using shift-left and shift-right.
Once the driver and passenger have stood up, the vehicle will automatically de-rez so that you don't have used Whirly-Putters cluttering up your skies and land.
The Whirly-Putter was designed to be a small and whimsical two-person vehicle, ideal for casual touring around. It was not designed for tearing up the skies at 100 miles an hour.
