The 7th annual Queen Lace BenJun Derby Weekend will take place Saturday, October 5th through Sunday, October 6th of 2024. This incredible series of events will serve as a platform not only to entertain but also to educate and inform the Second Life community about the devastating effects of Dementia.

The BenJun Derby Weekend is the brainchild of Queen Lace Imperial Majesty, Zhavia Z. Kumar, whose desire to find a way to honor her grandfather gave birth to this spectacular venture. Affectionately known as BenJun, Roxie’s grandfather was diagnosed, fought but eventually succumbed to Dementia which is a progressive and sometimes chronic brain condition that causes problems with thinking, behavior, and memory. Her experience has inspired her to do everything she can to ensure that others are informed about the causes, symptoms, prevention, and useful resources related to the syndrome.

The focus The Benjun Derby Weekend is to raise awareness and educate. However, donations to The Dementia Society of America via their website will also be accepted. 100% of donations will be sent to DSA. Any funds received via sponsorship will be dedicated to the administrative and operational cost of the event itself.

The BenJun Derby Weekend will consist of four main events that are anticipated to draw Second Life residents from all walks of life and every corner of the grid. Sponsorship of these events would not only be an excellent advertising opportunity for you and your organization but would also ensure that information about Dementia reaches as much of the Second Life community as possible.
