I wanted to replace old candlesticks which were taking up too much Land impact on my parcel, so, yesterday, I decided to make my own.
The model is made up of 5230 triangles http://screencast.com/t/WfV3nMGK5t
with detail baked from the 418k triangles original which I modeled in 3d-Coat.
the alpha channel in the normal map and specular map is used to differenciate between the candle and the metal part.
As for the flame, I used Fred Gandt's "Basic Particle Candle Flame ON/OFF ( V1 )" script from the SL Wiki : http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/User:Fred_Gandt/Scripts

Very realistic in every way, nicely detailed with a touch on and off flame. Great work however for my purposes I would have preferred to be able to make it smaller.
