Maitreya Bakes on Mesh Relay HUD

詳細

This BoM relay hud is made for the Lara mesh body. You can use it to try the Bakes on Mesh (BoM) feature, that was recently released by Linden Lab.This relay will only work on the Maitreya Lara mesh body. It does not use Omega, so you do not need the Omega Relay to use it.

This is not an update to the Lara body, it's just a tool to let you see what the new feature is and how you can use it.

Please note that this relay HUD will only work for skins, tattoos and clothing wearables. It will not work for alpha layers. For alpha, for now, use the Lara HUD as you currently do. We will have BoM fully implemented in the next update of the Lara mesh body.

Please keep in mind that older pre-mesh-body skins will work, but expect to see some odd texture effects around the fingers and toes. This is because the default SL avatar has no toes and no fingernails and these skins were made with that in mind.

The new Bakes on Mesh feature does not influence your mesh clothing in any way, you can still use that as you always have. BoM also won't influence your Tattoo, Underwear, and Clothing layers. They too can still be used the way you always have (with Tattoo, Underwear, Clothing appliers made for Maitreya or Omega). You can use the new BoM features in combination with the mesh body layers, to allow for more layering options.

To use the BoM relay:

Make sure you have removed your full body alpha layer (The one that hides your default body) and that you are using a BoM capable viewer.
Then simply wear or add the BoM relay as you would any HUD or applier and touch it to activate. Now every texture you have on your default body will be "baked" together on the SL server and sent to your mesh body. Each time you add, remove, or move a layer within the stack, your body will re-rez to display that change.

Note that others near you who are not in a BoM capable viewer, will not be able to see the baked textures on your mesh body.

To switch back to your standard mesh body: add your full body alpha and just re-apply your skin (on the hud or with a skin applier).

Just for now

Thought this was a great way to test how BOM works. Not perfect? maybe not. Demonstrates BOM? 100%. Like anything so fundamental - heads whatever - I always knock up a test version first, in this case a copy of my body to test BOM. Wasn't expecting a final solution, so very glad to have a way of trying it while I wait for the proper update. Just for now

It works but you lose your skin.

I'm only giving it 2 stars because they REALLY need to put a notecard in with this MarketPlace item that explains a few things, and I recommended this more than a couple of weeks ago. For instance, when you go BoM with Lara, if you're using the default Lara skin (which many of us are), you will lose it. They should tell us this.

They say, "you can just go back", but that's not exactly true either. Sure, you can take off this BoM relay and click the "Skins & Options" button on the Lara HUD and go back to non-BoM. However, nowhere does it tell you what your original skin presets and skin color shading was. You have to figure this out all over again. So, the least they could do would be to tell us to jot down our skin shading, and possibly play with it and figure out our skin preset BEFORE wearing this BoM Lara relay. Just that simple information would have saved me a great deal of distress and some time. And I'm not the only one going through this distress. I see it regularly in the Maitreya Lara Friends support group.

Also, the skins built into the Lara HUD are Glam Affair. I didn't know this until I went BoM and wanted to get back the same look I had before going BoM. (Why should I know that it's Glam Affair? They certainly didn't tell me anywhere, like in a notecard!) Also, they should provide a MarketPlace link for this Glam Affair skin so at least we can go buy it to keep our look (if that's what we choose to do), as it was difficult to find.

So, they'll only be getting 2 stars from me until they explain a few things in a notecard, rather than causing us grief about losing our look when we blithely (trustingly) wear this Lara BoM HUD.
