Two Cliff Sets in One - INLAND and COASTAL options included.
I'm very happy to present this easy-to-use cliff building set, designed to give your land project a healthy dose of drama. The cliffs can be easily positioned together to suit your design. Optional back pieces mean you can use this set without terraforming (or remove for terraform projects).
This build takes full advantage of the power of MESH to bring you detailed objects with a refreshingly low prim count.
Please visit my inworld display to see an example of this set in use
In the box:
4 x cliff sections (with optional low detail back piece)
2 x textures versions of above - dark and light rock - for INLAND and COASTAL scenes
All with detachable back piece.
All pieces have accurate physics.
These cliff sections vary between 5 to 9 prims each (including back piece) at full size
Cliffs are average 32meters in height and can be scaled down to around 25 meters height. Have a look at the main picture - the AV will give you a sense of scale.
PLEASE NOTE BEFORE BUYING: these are LARGE cliffs designed to be used at around the SUPPLED SIZE (not scaled down to very small size - which will increase LI).
If you are looking for smaller rocks please see my Cliff & Tower set (link below)

These are so useful. They look amazing too
If you go to the inworld Skye sim you can see how useful they are. Great product. Many thanks! I look forward to your upcoming kits and bits ( I seen some on your sim) :)
Good for big builds horrible for small ones.
I'm not going to give this one star because they actually look good. That's not the issue at hand. The issue I have with this product is the Land Impact increases when you shrink the pieces which makes it completely useless for builds in smaller land areas. Maybe if there's an update to the mesh where it's better optimized so it doesn't do this then I'll reconsider my review of it. But as of right now I'm not pleased with this set at all.
Awesome, but...
I love these cliffs, for their realistic look and for their ability to be seasonally changed (with the bolt on set). However, I did have an issue and want others to be aware of it: these suckers are HUGE, and if you want their LI count to remain low, you can't adjust their size much at all.
Yes, I did visit these in person, and they are indeed grand & lifelike and all the other wonderful adjectives used by others. However, I misunderstood the description here on the MP. I noted it said these weren't designed to be scaled small,* but I didn't think scaling them down by 50% - 60% would be considered small (they are huge, and even 50% smaller is still big, IMHO). I was wrong.
Oh yes, they ~will~ scale, but the LI nearly triples. I've removed the backs as I don't need them (as suggested in the description), which helps, but I sure wish Alex had included a 50% - 66% smaller size (created to be LI-efficient at that size) with this set. I'm happy to say I'll be able to make these work, but it's only because SL recently increased the LI allowances.
I really do love these, and am glad I can make them work for me, but you should ~definitely~ visit them inworld before purchasing and don't expect to adjust their size much without sacrificing the low LI counts.
*For the record, I do know the product description gives a specific size range of 32m - 25m, however, since I don't actually build things, these numbers are mostly meaningless to me. Without a ruler next to the object, it gives me little idea of the actual size those numbers represent. Distance in SL is very difficult for me to judge. No haters, please - I gave 4 out of 5 stars; this is just an FYI to others who may be expecting the same things I did.
Indispensable tool in landscaping.
These cliffs are an essential part of my toolkit whenever I build a region. There are essentially just 4 parts (plus the arch makes 5) but the way that Alex has constructed and textured them means that you can overlap, squash, stretch, and tilt in all manner of ways to produce a convincing and cohesive set of cliffs that don't scream out "OMG the same 4 cliffs are everywhere". The arch is the least adaptable part, very distinctive but even so, use it as a cave mouth with the cliffs around it etc.
The only issue I have found is struggling to "top" them. I find myself inclined towards clifftop paths and a small overhang top section would be ideal, Alex has a set of items that help some in this (see mushrooms rocks).
As for LOD, I see a number of people reviewing this. I don't honestly find it to be a significant issue but you need to understand how LOD decay works. The cliffs are built to be big, large items will remain visible at the Higher LOD for a longer time as such the lower LOD models are not used. what this means in practice is that when you shrink them down they will vanish a lot quicker. Alex's newer products have multiple versions for different scales and if you are looking to build smaller items that will be visible from afar you might want to consider using some of those instead.
Very nice
Very nice item. Love the copy ability. Look great. Wish they weren't transparent from a distance tho. Thanks!
Fabulous
Excellent quality, no mess no fuss design, doesn't overpower the rest of the theme but is quite a feature in of itself. Has a Lord of the Rings grandiosity feel particularly under the arch at boxed size. Fully resizable, we can mix and match the pieces around and it's no fussy about precision overlap it merges together even at different piece sizes fabulously. We can use duplicate pieces in the same build and it blends so well only an expert eye would spot it. We have a homestead and default ground textures match this design out of the box very closely on the darker theme option. Stand alone this product looks amazing but it could easily accmodate complimentary enhancements like extra trees or rocks, the skys the limit really with how much detail we could add to this. We intend to build a simple road across the top and it suits this purpose well. Thanks for wonderful design.
