I don't know about that instruction "media must be active on the sim", but I am using the hud to stream my favourite station while riding Yavanna Script pods on the road. It works fantastic!
Having media active in the viewer appears to be enough.

This is a must have ! easy to use and as long as the place you at has media rights works great!. and if you like me a learning dj with no gig in a club, you can let your friends listen if they dont have land right to change the sounds ! so this is perfect !. keep up the great work ! Regards Max
