1914 Gerrard Military "Spotter" Observer Biplane w/Fabric Wings Camouflaged for Combat NOT ARMED -- Only 32 Prims -- Crafted specially for Ashram use. NO combat mode on this peaceful little war plane -- it was used at the very start of World War I (the war to end all wars, it was billed back then).
The Gerrard was used as a trainer until it was discovered that the controls and flight characteristics were entirely unique and actually made combat flying more hazardous.
The Gerrard was retired in April of 1915 and the company, located in Kansas City, folded within a year. Gerrard went on to design many other aircraft for other manufacturers and retired rather wealthy at the age of 91.
Mint vintage 1911-1914 Gerrard engines and other parts tend to bring very high prices when they appear in online auctions.
