•) The Inspiration Behind these Earrings (•

This particular creation was inspired by a French, 13th century gold ring brooch decorated with rubies and sapphires in tall collets encircled with foliage. We have named our own piece with an inscription that was common during this era: "Ami Amet Deli Pencet", which translated from French means "think of a friend who loves you".

We wanted this to be a versatile adornment, true to the period, so we drew a little inspiration from a portrait of Sir Christoper Hatton, circa 1589, in which he wore a cameo suspended from a luxurious set of thick gold chains around his neck, and another afixed to the front of a richly jewelled and feathered cap. We were so drawn to this look that we created a version of this brooch mounted as a pendant on an ornate chain, and bracelets and earrings to complete the ensemble (available for purchase separately -- see below).

We say "inspired" when we talk about the pieces that we create because we don't create replicas, but rather conjure up our own jewelled magic based on the spirit of authentic renaissance adornments that capture our imagination, and that allow us to both explore and share some of the rich, historical context behind them.

•) Intentional Jewelry (•

Jewelry was worn by all ages and genders in the middle ages, and often had functional purposes as well as decorative ones. Pieces were often ornate and elaborate, with courtly love appearing as a central theme in many creations. This is the "intent" that this piece of jewelry was infused with during it's creation. We've explained more about our "intentional jewelry" toward the end of this document.

•) Did You Know that the Wearing of Jewelry Was Outlawed for Lower Classes? (•

As influence increased toward the latter half of the thirteenth century so so the demand for jewellery outside of court circles. As a result, laws were passed in an attempt to prevent the lower classes from wearing jewellery at all. Edward III introduced a law in England in 1363 forbidding the families of artisans and yeoman from wearing "belts, collars, clasps, rings, garters, brooches, ribbons, chains, bands or seals, or any other thing whatsoever of gold or silver", though this proved a rather difficult thing to enforce. Imagine trying to make that law work in Second Life *grins*

This is designed to reduce the imprint on SIM resources, as heavily scripted items can cause significant lag.

* Cleansing system built in to allow you to purge unnecessary scripts once you are done resizing your item. Th
