1.2 Quick Usage-Guide
-------------------------------
This section will give you fast and easy explanation of all the important parts of the Object-Scanner HUD system.
--------------------------------------------------
1.2.1 Usage of the "Show-HUD" command
--------------------------------------------------
Whenever you attach the HUD, the HUD will automatically shrink into a small version to conserve space. To show the full-size HUD, just click on the "Show HUD" button.
-------------------------------------------
1.2.2 Usage of the "Hide" command
-------------------------------------------
Whenever you are finished using the Object-Scanner HUD, you can hide it so it does not take up important space on your screen. Just click on the white-colored "Hide" button, and the HUD will automatically shrink into a mini-sized HUD to preserve as much space as possible.
-------------------------------------------
1.2.3 Usage of the "Scan" command
-------------------------------------------
With this green-colored "Scan" button, you have easy and fast access to manual scanning of the area. When you click this button, you will get a popup window to choose the prefered scanning-range. The scan-range can be all from 5 meter radius all up to 96 meter radius.
When you have selected the prefered scan-range, another window will pupup with 3 different selections. You can choose to scan for "Active", "Passive" and "Scripted" objects. Here is a quick explanation of the three different scanning-types:
Active: Physical objects that are moving, or non-physical objects containing an "active" script. "Active" means the script is running and currently doing something. A basic default script that is running may not be active but a script that has a command monitoring, like with llListen, will always be active. Also scripts with timed interval tasks will be active. "Active" means more sim resources are being used by the object.
Passive: Non-scripted or script is "passive" AND non-physical or, if physical, not moving. The script is running and waiting for user-interaction like touching etc. Very little sim resources are being used by "passive" objects.
Scripted: Anything that contains an "active" or "passive" script.
review: Advanced Object-Scanner HUD 1.93d
I am driving in and with D2 powered cars so it is kinda important to list anything out in the chat for inspection instead of individually inspecting it with the edit mode of SL.
Would like to see these options:
• instead of a HUD, there is a rezzed out version, so other people can use it and everyone can still see the results.
• scan range is limited to between 1 and 3 meters, so objects has to be very close to the scanner
• scanning shows how much active and passive running scripts there are in the target object.
• the scanner can scan each prim of the object and print out the contents per prim.
• the scanner can print out the landimpact along with already being able to count the actual primcount
Please do not change the fact that the scanner can count the amount of prims in one object.
Please do not change the fact that the scanner can print out the weight of objects. These functions are usefull in D2.
Love this scanner! It works like a dream and the updates integrate flawlessly. I think I've had it for 8 months or so, and I haven't had any problems with it! I wish I could make it invisible so that it could be used on hunts.... :)
An absolutely brilliant gadget for anyone who has lots of items to keep track of. It works very well for finding absolutely anything that you've lost, or didn't even know existed, like microprims on your newly rented land that didn't get deleted.
The search feature is amazing, but does take a minute or so to complete if there's lots of objects around. Still, an amazing little object.
I do wish it had another feature, though, and that would be prim counting. Maybe you want to count how many prims are nearby you that belong to you, or belong to a given username? This device could definitely do it, but it can't do it yet... still would be an awesome feature.
CORRECTION: The version has a prim counter, under Parcel Data. This ONLY works if you have the rights to use the sim-based count functions. Unfortunately, there's no workaround for this, which is what I was looking for originally, specifically to help out land renters who can't access the prim counting options of the land.
All in all, if you have even a thought about getting this, do so.. it's one of those things you can't live without in some situations.
wow. the description and reviews say it all but i own several products from this guy and they are all top notch. This object scanner is no exception. This guy has great quality products, and their priced very reasonably, almost too low for the quality and functionality of his products. I give (and use darn near all his products) 10 stars.
