Thanks for your purchase of Kheph's All-Purpose Sound Machine.
This Sound Player (or Preloader) does it all! (You can even use it with your Metamover System.)
-Play any number of Sounds - Just one, or many in Sequence. Great for getting around the 10-second Sound Clip limit. This Machine can play entire songs!
-Play One, Loop or Randomize Sounds.
-Set Volume and Length of Sounds. Also has Preloader setting that silently loads Sounds into the viewers of nearby AVs.
-Set Trigger to Touch or Sensor. You can also trigger the Machine via Chat Command or Link Messages. PLUS, the Sound Machine can be set to instantaneously trigger other Sound Machines when it is triggered. This helps to sync up sounds playing in multiple players in a sim.
-Set a Delay between Plays.
-Restrict triggering to Owner, Group or Public.
-Set to Visible or Invisible/Phantom when Engaged.
You can use the single prim the Sound Machine Script comes in, or you can remove the Script and use it in your own builds!
HOW TO USE THE ALL-PURPOSE SOUND MACHINE
------------------------------------------------------
To use the All-Purpose Sound Machine, just drop your Sound or Sounds into the Contents, then touch the Machine. It will display a hovertext showing its default settings - which assume you want the Machine to play its Sound(s) when anyone touches it, and then wait quietly to be touched again. An Options Menu will also appear, inviting you to change any of several Options (see below), or to Engage the Machine.
To stop the Sound Machine once it starts, you will need to type the Machine's name on Channel /777. (It is case-insensitive.)
Besides the Touch and Sensor Triggers offered in the Options Menu, the Sound Machine can also be triggered if it hears its name on Channel /4242. This way other scripts can trigger the Machine when needed, or even you can with a typed command.
The Machine can also be triggered by other Sound Machines. This helps to sync up sounds playing in multiple Machines in a sim. (For more on this, see the REGION Option in the Option Menu instructions below.)
The Machine can ALSO be triggered via Link Messages - so you can put the Sound Machine Script into your own Object and make it interact with your own scripts. It simply listens for two commands:
- "Player Start"
- "Player Stop"
OPTIONS MENU
-----------------
NOTE: Any Option that can ge toggled "on" via the Options Menu, can be toggled "off" by clicking the same button from the menu again.
PLAY MODE:
Play Mode toggles between 'Play Once' and 'Looping' modes.
- PLAY ONCE: If you have one Sound in the Player, it will play the Sound and wait to be
triggered again. If you have multiple Sounds in the Player, it will play them all in
Sequence then wait to be triggered again.
- LOOPING: If you have one Sound in the Player, it will play the Sound over and over
again, until you turn it off. If you have multiple Sounds in the Player, it will play them
all in Sequence then repeat over and over again, until you turn it off.
VOLUME (and Preloading):
The following Volume settings are available:
-LOUDEST: Sets Sound to 1.0 Volume, which is 100 percent Volume.
-LOUDER: 0.80, or 80 percent Volume.
-LOUD: 0.70, or 70 percent Volume.
-MED-LOUD: 0.60, or 60 percent Volume.
-MEDIUM: 0.50, or 50 percent Volume.
-MED-SOFT: 0.40, or 40 percent Volume.
-SOFT: 0.25, or 25 percent Volume.
-SOFTER: 0.10, or 10 percent Volume.
-PRELOAD: The Preload Setting makes the Player entirely silent. However, the Player will
quietly load its Sounds into the viewer-client of anyone standing within normal listening
range of the Player.
IMPORTANT NOTE: When using the Preload setting, make sure you also set the Play Mode
to 'LOOP'. Also, when Preloading longer sounds (such as full 10-second clips), I highly
recommend setting the Sound Length to 6 or 7 seconds. A Prelaoder does not need to play
an entire sound in order to prelaod it.
DELAY:
The Delay causes the Player to sleep after playing it's Sound or Sound Sequence, for a time of your choosing. There are twelve settings- from 0.0 for no Delay at all, to 600 seconds (or 10 minutes).
-If you have your Player Mode set to ONCE, the Delay will not allow the Player to be triggered
again until the Delay runs out. (If someone attempts to trigger it during the Delay, the Player
will automatically trigger again upon coming out of sleep.)
-If you have your Player Mode set to LOOP, the Delay will cause the Player to pause for the
length of the Delay between loops of its Sound or Sound Sequence. (This Delay will NOT cause
the Player to
If you want to set up multiple boxes 1. you need to touch each one to start them all. 2. There is a delay between boxes that makes it basically useless.
Form the instructions; The Machine can ALSO be triggered via Link Messages - so you can put the Sound Machine Script into your own Object and make it interact with your own scripts. It simply listens for two commands:
- "Player Start"
- "Player Stop"
I guess that's great if you know which scripts to use and what linked messages are. Overall this is way overpriced for something that makes your sounds echo from delay.
