This ballgown set was inspired by the Art Nouveau style of art, popular from 1890–1910. The name "Art Nouveau" is French for "new art". A reaction to academic art of the 19th century, it was inspired by natural forms and structures, not only in flowers and plants but also in curved lines. Architects tried to harmonize with the natural environment. It is also considered a philosophy of design of furniture, which was designed according to the whole building and made part of ordinary life.

The dress structure itself is based on various styles popular throughout the 19th Century (although the initial design--and the conical version of the dress ) was inspired by a Russian Court Dress made circa 1870-1880. The surface design of the dress was inspired by Art Nouveau patterns (Namely, the elaborate, scroll-like decorations popular around that time.)

The dress comes with a cinched mesh corset (and alpha layer to hide your torso), but I've also included a non-mesh, clothing layer bodice as well, so you can wear it that way if you like.

Two skirts are included--one, a conical sculpt skirt and the other, a wide prim skirt. Fan and gloves aren't included, but you can buy the excellent opera gloves (the set contains a variety of colors) at Rag Dollz inworld store: (http://slurl.com/secondlife/Videos/216/95/22)

Please feel free to visit my marketplace store to view my other items. I've got historical dresses, masks, fans and dress textures!

I love this gown. The mesh corset is lovely, and there's a non mesh version too. One skirt is sculpted and has a train that swishes nicely. The poofier skirt is flexi. Both versions look really good. Well done!
