The Bandit IF is based on the real world Folkboat, a one design racing class that thanks to its unsurpassed sea going capabilities for its size acquired fame as a low budget passage maker for blue water cruising. The design may be over 70 years old, Folkboats are still being built and raced today. The Second Life version is made in the same tradition, The focus is clearly placed on the sailing and racing aspects, but it can equally be your "home away from home" when exploring all corners of the grid!
The Bandit IF is powered by the 3rd generation BOSS Dynamic Sailing Engine. Everything about the boat is aimed at giving you a fun and realistic experience, while being both cruise friendly and accessible for beginners, yet when its manual control is fully utilized so challenging it will inspire even the most seasoned sailors to give it all they have in exciting close quarters racing!
The Bandit IF comes fully loaded, in addition to working instruments telling you things like windspeed, wind direction and boat speed, you'll find a wind vane, luffing sails, telltales, animated hoisting and all working sheets, right down to a working outboard engine, deployable fenders, sleeping bags, on board lights, and you can even put a kettle on the two burner stove when you feel like relaxing!
The Bandit IF offers realistic behavior, it allows you free wind inputs without the use of presets, independent sail controls, wind variations, wind shadowing and weather helm. For racing and more advanced settings a windsetter and repeater come included in the racepack, allowing you to build a course where you can match the wind to the surrounding area!
The Bandit IF is designed as a two person boat, and while you, of course, can sail it singlehandedly, taking a crew member along to help you tend to the sails and balance the boat will add to the fun and the performance. Not only does the boat have many leisure and couples poses, you and your crew are fully animated when sailing, hoisting, hiking, steering and even trimming for the crew, every command you give is translated directly into action on your screen!
The Bandit IF offers you a free sailing school, not aimed at making you better at gaming, but truly teaching you all ins and outs about sailing. The lessons brought to you in english will cover all real life and second life specific topics. So if you are new to sailing but always wanted to give it a try, and maybe even someday take your skills out in the real world? Sign up today for the SLIFF Sailing School at Skagway.
The Bandit IF is a high quality boat with custom shaped LOD models for all major parts, it won't deform or disappear at any distance, and the land impact when sailing will be around 60 Li. Thanks to clever building however, when moored the boat will still fit nicely in a cheap 32 Li mooring!
The Bandit IF comes with the mesh parts modify and all textures included for you to be used as templates!

Great work, done with lots of love.
Thank you for this wet danish dream :-D
Realistic in many ways
This boat is all it claims to be. Well build with many realistic details. It has easy to learn controls and and many good control solutions. It can be configured and textured to your liking. There are many people sailing this vessel, a community is formed around it and races arranged for this boat.
The boat is loaded with great animations: sitting, sleeping, diving and swimming from the boat
I am very disappointed by the bow spray though. It looks like a stiff white beard that suddenly appears when going faster than 2.5 knots and it doesn't vary much when you go faster. On top of it: the particles are full-bright meaning they looks all lit up at night time. I have seen prettier bow sprays in Second Life, in fact I never saw worse.
I got the boat a few days ago and I love it. I did join a race and had luckily a clever crew with me. When racing you have all hands full and a little more. The boat need to be steered with a firm hand to keep it on course. This means concentrated tiller work. My arms were sore long time after :)
One last observation: The autopilot doesn't do any steering, it just sets main and jib sails automatically.
I am glad I bought this boat and I don't regret for one moment
Really nice boat!
In my opinion, this is the most realistic sailing vessel in SL, and I've sailed most all of the top sail boats here. The attention to detail in the build and the sailing script is second to none. These builders really deserve a lot of credit for this one. Excellent job!
best lil sailboat to learn on or master
fits up to 3 people great poses perfect setup and animations read the instructions show patience and enjoy the wonderful quality of this build thankyou for such a wonderful job on this product
Fantastic boat
The Bandit IF is a fantastic watercraft for those looking to sail the oceans of SL in a more realistic manner without having to bury their heads in sailing guides and manuals. The boat is small enough to maneuver small waterways, maneuverable enough to win races, and comfortable enough for cruising the waves. The animations for raising/lowering the mainsail/spinnaker/jib are well done and add a touch of fun to exploring the sea. The added motor makes pulling out of slips easy, yet still present a challenge when transitioning between motor and sail. Autopilot makes simple cruising a delight. If you wish to add that more challenge, then adjusting your hike to balance the boat will keep you and your crew busy, and keeping your heading into the wind will sharpen your navigational skills.
If there are any downsides, I'd have to say the fact that autopilot can only be used if both mainsail and jib are raised.
