The lance developed itself in the middle ages from the humble spear. Normans fought with spear on horseback at the battle of Hastings in 1066. Since then, the lance developed.
Used on horseback, the lance was a heavy horse knight's primary weapon on the battle field.
Heavy Horse, along with the longbowmen, was the pride of the english army and feared throughout the known world, the Lance was a formidable weapon in the middle ages.
It also, later became used with tournaments, where knights would paint their colours apon its length and do battle for the entertainment of the people and the Kings or Lords of the realm. Foremost, the lance was used within battle.

Against infantry , the lance was lowered to the right hand side of the rider, the tip lowered to chest height and the speed of the horse and steel tip made a direct hit with this weapon deadly.
Against other knights or riders, the lance was rested across the rider and aimed at the left side of the horse and the two opponants would charge at each other, left side to left side. This spired the age of Chivalry. Chivalry dawns from the french for horse - cheval. and Knight - chevalier. Chivalry is a term related to the medieval institution of knighthood. It is usually associated with ideals of knightly virtues, honour and courtly love.

The Knight would also be equipt with a sword. Once the lance had been broken, which was never usually instant, he then had the ability to fight in close quarters. The lance was never used off of horseback, it was far too unwieldy for such close combat. The knight's horse, armor and weaponry was extremely expensive and the Knight had high status with title as he was deemed to have the fighting power of 10 ordinary soldiers.

Spell Fire LANCE- This weapon was such a well known and popular weapon among knights on the battle field, why only keep this to a tournament arena? The Spell Fire System was developed for medieval and fantasy Roleplay, so, with much production, the lance has been brought to Spell Fire for use in battle.

Using the Lance:

Equip your horse first. Then equip the battle Lance. You will be put into the ride animation, with the spear held vertically. Clicking the lance will bring a menu.
Joust - For use in tournaments, or on the battlefield against other knights, uphold the age of chivalry. The lance is adjusted to rest across the rider and charge at the opponent left side to left side.
Fight - Lowers the lance to the rider's right and drops the point to a standing opponent's chest.

Joust and fight do different damage, still a powerful hit but holding the lance cross ways (joust) will lower the power of the hit as opposed to directly inline with the horse (fight).

The lance will only make a hit if the rider is in Always Run and they are actualy moving. This depicts the actual momentum that was needed for the hit to be of strength.

(Note: Removing the lance while in the Joust stance, may drop your avatar, 'off' your horse. To remain in the saddle, set your lance back to the ride position. Once the lance is broke, you will resume the ride position and you should be able to detach it and remain on horseback. )

Hitting with the lance -
To aim the lance, use mouselook. and aim at yur opponant. HOWEVER, unlike the spellfire swords, the lance tip is what will hit your opponent and its set at an offset. Depending on what mode you are in. Move the mouse to fine tune the aim and strike your opponent.

Once you have made a hit, the lance may or may not break, but if it does, you will need to find a lance rack to gain a new lance. Detaching and reattaching a broken lance, will only attach a broken lance. A lance rack must be found in order to repair your lance.

Using the Lance Rack -
Basically, touching the rack will renew your lance. You will get some options on a menu, if you touch the rack in its default state.
Tourny 3L- This allows only three lances available in the rack. For tournaments. When a lance is taken, one will disappear, making it easy to see how many lances you have remaining.
Tourny 5L- Same as the three lance tournament option, but with 5 lances.
Standard - This allows infinite number of lances. Every time you touch the rack, you have an option to replace your lance or reset the rack. Resetting the rack will take it back to its default state with the main menu.

Tournament settings - You will find that anyone, even people NOT holding a lance can remove a lance from the rack or access it's menus. The reason this was left as it was, is so that it can be easily reset should it be needed.

Yo recieve 2 lance racks in this pack. For tournament use, you may have one rack for each opponent.

Overview

Knights and heavy Horse riders, trained long and hard with the lance, it was not an easy weapon to wield but effective once the skill was gained. The SF version has tried to do 2 things. First of, and most importantly, tried to keep in fitting
