She is always depicted as a beautiful woman usually accompanied by the winged godling Eros (Love). The birth of Venus fountain was inspired by the myth of her birth that she rose from the sea carried by a scallop shell. The fountain was inspired by the famous sculptures depicting her beauty and her birth. The fountain is textured in a beautiful granite with underlying yellow giving it a more aged feel.
