If the bruises break up when you zoom away from your avatar, increase LOD until it resolves the issue. I suggest setting it to a value of 3 or more.
To adjust LOD using Firestorm Viewer:
• Open Preferences
• Select Graphics
• Under General tab you’ll see Level of Detail [LOD] Distance Factors and beneath it you’ll see Object & Sculpts LOD
• Raise value of Object & Sculpts LOD using slider
To adjust LOD using Second Life Viewer:
• Hit CTRL+ALT+D to bring up Advanced tab at top left-hand side of screen
• Click Advanced then select Show Debug Settings
• Type in ‘rendervolumeLODfactor’
• Increase using arrows or by typing in value
