What Is Bridge?
Bridge is a cloud-based, multi-service HUD. It allows you to access web-based services from within virtual environments (such as Second Life, Sansar, In-World, OpenSim, etc.) and MMOs (such as World of Warcraft) by connecting these accounts through a Google account. You can also install custom apps (we call them 'plugins') to interact with specific environments. Check out our ever-changing slideshow for more information!
Cloud-Based
Bridge uses Google APIs to backup and manage your data. No personal information is stored on Bridge devices - if you transfer your device to another user it will sync with their information, not yours.
Multi-Service HUD
With Bridge you can access a number of web-based features from within Second Life. These features include:
Social Media accounts - You can login to Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest
Communicate - You can use Skype to communicate
Listen to Music or watch Videos - YouTube, Pandora, Sound Cloud
Access Second Life features - Marketplace, Destination Guide, Map
Limited Use of Google Suite - Gmail, Calendar, Blogger, Drive*, Translate, Keep (List making & note taking), & more.
You can even create your own plugins to interact with your world in your own way!
Plugins (Example: VMA)
Part of Bridge’s multi-service capability includes the creation of plugins. Plugins allow you to use Bridge as an interface for in-game functions. Our first example of this is the Venue Management Assistant (VMA) plugin. VMA allows parcel owners/managers/staff to kick, ban, send home, and greet guests and otherwise manage a parcel. Designed with Live Performance venues in-mind, VMA can be used with wedding venues, roleplay parcels, and any other location where being able to take action with the click of a button would be helpful.
Because Bridge is cloud-based, VMA also connects to a number of web-based tools that can be accessed from outside of Second Life such as a behavior log where you can see whom other venues have banned and why and then determine if you want to ban them or not. You can even isolate a specific guest and see how often they visit your venue so you can see who your true fans are!
There is a similar system for performers that allows them to keep in-touch with fans.
Get Bridge for Free
During our open Beta, Bridge will be offered for FREE. Users that like our Facebook page and use their Bridge device often will continue to receive any standard (software and firmware) updates for free. If we get at least 5,000 frequent users by June 30th (the expected end of the first phase of our open Beta) then Bridge will remain free, forever.**
* Some features have limited functionality or have been disabled during open Beta.
** Does not include certain subscription based features such as the VMA or any third-party features.
