CATWA HEAD Freya

It is a nice head. For a unisex head it was surprisingly easy to work with and get it to look feminine. Pretty versatile imho. Thanks for the gift, Catwa.

Glad to see an easily accessible, free mesh head finally available for everyone on the marketplace by an actual reputable vendor. It's great for new users, giving an authentic experience for how to customize their avatars!

I do have some user critiques & criticisms though. These are not complaints! I'm glad & gratful this is out, but to maintain a healthy dose of reality and stave off true disappointment from newcomers with high hopes criticism is a must.

Before the critiques I wanna say this first. I've been in SL for over 12 years and use the Catwa Daniel head already. But this doesn't seem to work well for males at all, at least not easily. Tried over a week with multiple ways but to no avail. One big problem is all the skins in the HUD are for women (which is not at all unisex) so I can't get a baseline for this head to even work from. I've been trying to make this work for guys but not even skins from major brands such as Stray dog or L'etre/Doux seem to work.

(Also, reviews claiming the issue is patience or a lack of skill is no excuse for product shortcomings. It's like saying people deserved to die on Mt. Everest because they didn't prepare enough. Don't be rude and yes, this makes such an opinion entirely wrong.)

Now for the criticisms & critiques.

- First big issue is the eyes appear to always be looking somewhat upward. It throws things off and I've had to use the animation HUD to get them looking forward, which just further messes up how the face looks.

- Second issue is the neck to chin section. The neck looks great and is lined up well width wise, but when looking from the side where the chin attaches to the neck is very feminine and has a sharp curve upwards that looks off on a male body.

- Third issue is the Outer Eye Corner is not rigged to the head. Not sure if this was intentional or not but it is disappointing none the less.

That's about it though! Thanks Catwa for releasing this product to the community!

It took some work, but after figuring a direction, I was able to get a good male look. Saved 5k. I've no sympathy for those who grab a free gift and then complain because they do not have the patience, the will or the know how to manipulate the sliders. That's on you.
