OnlineMonitor
an offworld controllable online status recorder

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

OnlineMonitor is a gadget that allows you to track online times of avatars. You can track anyone,
they don't have to be on your friends list or show their online status if they are in the friends list.

It allows you to record the online times of residents or just let you see who is currently online.

The system is web-based. As such, the OnlineMonitor is controllable offworld through a webpage:
It shows the online statuses and provides an interface to configure your system.
The system also comes with an online status indicator for your own status that you can build into
your own website or blog; so everyone reading your site or blog will know whether you're currently
online inworld,

The device comes in two parts, a base station, disguised as a reproduction of Salvador Dalí's
"The Persistence of Memory", and a HUD.
The base station and the HUD could be used together or separately.
The base station is responsible for recording online times of the residents being tracked, while the
HUD simply shows the residents that are currently online. If a resident is in the same sim, also the
position will be shown.

The Base Station

The base station record online times of residents. It notifies you when a resident comes online or
went offline. The notification method is either by IM or E-mail, or you can turn it off altogether.
It is also configurable to notify only when you are online or only when you are offline.
It optionally sends you an E-mail report at midnight (SLT) of all the data that has been recorded
during the day.

For the Web interface to function (including the online indicator for your website/blog), you must rez
a base station.
If you only want to use the OnlineMonitor HUD, rezzing the base station is not required.

The OnlineMonitor base station is the object named "The Persistence of Memory" located within
your (CTS) OnlineMonitor folder. It is a reproduction of Salvador Dalí's "Persistence of Memory".
If you don't like it you can modify the object any time to your liking and create your own
OnlineMonitor base station object out of it.

HUD

The HUD shows the residents that are currently online above the HUD.
The HUD has a number of buttons to add and remove residents, to retrieve the statistics and to
access the Web interface.

If you want to use the HUD, attach it to any HUD attachment point. By default it attaches to the
bottom right HUD attachment point. As soon as you attach it, it will connect to the server and
retrieve the names of the residents you are currently monitoring and adds them to the HUD system.

In the latest update, v2.2, the scripts have been updated so that both the base station and the HUD can hold ca. 900 entries.

It used to have a lot of bugs, but it has been updated recently and things are more stable since version v2.3. Hud doesn't crash anymore, I have not seen a script error yet.
Only thing I've noticed is that when you add/remove people through the website that you need to reattach the hud to get it synced.
I also noticed that it will not scan your own avatar it will show your status in the hud but not on the website, I'm always offline.

Does what it's supposed to do, and does it brilliantly.

It may be updated, don't know, but I seriously think this gadget in its current form deserves any of the previous bad reviews.

Not impressed

Don't believe the hype. This fails consistantly, and there has never been an update. Singularly unimpressed.

this app it absolutely terrible, it would be so easy to make it perfect, but unfortunately the creators have no interest..

Accuracy Low
stability bad
Functions. lacking of basis functions, one could ask why this app is so expensive???

So maybe I'm like the NSA but I tried to add a lot of people whom were important for me, but there is a limit of how many people it can handle. It would be good it that was redesigned or if it was stated how many people it can support. Also would be good if it wouldn't just crash, but actually check if it was about to run out of memory. Recovering from a crash like that is difficult, because it starts by synchronizing from the web... and then crashes again and again. 3 stars because the web interface is nice.
