Well, the 0.5 is basically a forced update from 0.46, the last stable version,
because of the HAVOK 7 server upgrades which change the way linear deflection works for vehicles.
0.46 cars may experience jumpiness on prim roads that can potentially make them fly off the track,
so this was the primary issue addressed in the update.
Also added:
- improved dynamics for drifting
- improved key and mouse handlers
- simpler and less laggy scripts, including universal front wheel scripts,
new brakes, and gear indicator separate from the steering wheel script
- new menu setup includes:
key/mouse steering selection
auto/manual transmission selection
cars no longer come in (mousesteer) variants because they can now be customized
Advanced tricks:
- The car is scripted so that 1st gear will always burn out when it reaches the redline, so you can downshift
quickly into 1st at any time to force the back end to break loose, and then shift back up if you still have enough speed.
- It is possible to do real techniques like the Scandinavian Flick where you steer the car towards the outside of the turn
and then snap it back to the inside of the turn to use the car's momentum to initiate traction loss.
This method is effective as there is no loss of speed that would occur when braking or downshifting.
