New furniture was ordered for Marie Antoinette's bedroom in Petit Trianon in 1787. This bed, called in 18th century "Lit en chaire à prêcher" was one of the pieces made. The design must have been done by Jean-Démosthène Dugourc. The work went to carpenter Georges Jacob. Bedding have retained the original upholstery, covered with a basin embroidered in the workshops of the widow Desfarges in Lyon. The frame is made of garlands of roses and in the center is bouquets of wildflowers.
