A Tour of Cloud Base 9

Cloud Base 9 is a large static Skybox designed for use as a home, store, club or RP venue. It comprises 285 prims, measures 70m in length, 60m in width and 24m in height. Cloud Base 9 is supplied to the client in a pre-packed multi-use rezer to allow easy positioning.

The main body of the base comprises the Hanger Deck measuring 20m in width by 60m in length. On first rez, this space is divided into 3 areas by 2 partition walls that can easily be removed by the user.

The forward area comprises the 'Launch Bay'. Touch the curved end wall, painted with an arrow pattern in the inside, and you will hear the servo motors engage as the whole of the front end opens up to allow launching and landing of any small aircraft. The hanger doors take around 14 seconds to open up to their full extent. Once open touch them again to close them.

On initial rezing of the Cloud Base you will find the rezer positioned in the middle area of the 'Hanger Deck' This space has two sliding doors, one on the left side and another on the right, which allow access to the lower level of the walkway which runs around the bottom edge of the 'Hanger Deck'.

This space also has 2 ramps leading up. The ramp in the middle of the room leads up to the 'Crews Quarters' which are set in the dome of the roof which runs the length of the base. The other ramp on the left side leads to the upper walk way which runs around the top edge of the 'Hanger Deck'. Both of these ramps are scripted. Touch them and they will fold up out of the way, touch them again and they will return to the down position. There is also a hatch door in the roof above the side ramp which must be open before you can exit onto the walkway. This is also touch activated.

The rear section of the 'Hanger Deck' has a large window section within the curved wall. The windows of the Hanger Deck have been textured with your privacy in mind. Inside they have alpha textures so you can see out. Outside the textures are solid so no one can see in. If you wish to change this a set of the textures used in this build is also supplied.

Above the hanger deck is the 'External Landing Pad' for larger vehicles. This area is linked to the walkways around the outer edges of the hanger and also the Bow Sprits which stick out above the launch bay doors.

Above the landing pad is the 'Command Station' This can be accessed by a ramp and looks out over the landing pad. Above the command station is the canopy and radar array.

Cloud Base 9 is powered in flight by the four huge rotors placed at each corner. These rotors are divided into two pairs, The 'Forward Wing' and the 'Aft Wing'. The wings are scripted for use ONLY BY THE OWNER of the base. Each wing has its own script effecting only that wing and its rotors.

To access the scripts touch any part of a wing or its rotors. You will be presented with a menu asking what functions you would like to change. The menu has rotor speed setting, landing gear, smoke and engine sound options.

The Rotor blades have three speed settings, 'Fast' (used when the base is in flight), 'Slow' (used when the base has landed but the engines are still ticking over) or 'Stop' which stops all movement.

Cloud Base 9 has landing gear for use when the base is at ground level. The menu has two options for this, Raise and Lower. The Smoke controls turns the particle effect from the engines On and Off. Sound turns the engine noise On and Off. The sound for the engines has been set to the lowest practical radius so when turned on it should not interfere with your activities within the base but there will obviously be times when you just need peace and quiet.

A folding ramp has also been included on the front Port Side wing for easy access to the base when it is parked at ground level. In its stowed position it is visible as a protruding step on the front edge of the wing. Touch the step extend the ramp, touch it again to fold it away.

Cloud Base 9 has been constructed with care to allow the client the widest possible use before and after personal modifications.
