Commode a Vantaux in Pietra dura -C&G-

Commode a Vantaux made by Martin Carlin in 1778 from panels of hard stone representing colorful fruits and mounted on bronze finely chiseled and gilded.

Following the return to the antique mode of the late 18th century, these panels, precious in material and technique but old-fashioned in fashion, were disassembled and reassembled in the latest fashion. One of the principal craftsmen renowned for this work was Martin Carlin, a purveyor of elegant pieces to the most sophisticated Parisian elite.
