--- MANUAL, RTFM PLS! ---

# How to set up viewers:
- Firestorm: CTRL+P -> Move & View -> Movement -> Make sure "Pressing letter keys affects movement" checkbox is ticked on.
- Default SL Viewer: CTRL+P -> Move & View -> Single click on land: (bottom of the window) -> Set it to "No action".

# Basics:
Use C button (or left mouse click in mouselook) to draw your sword and attack. Typing "draw" and "sling" in chat works too.

# 3rd person view controls:
- Put your thumb on "C" key for attacking, other fingers on "D","W","A" for movement. Use your index finger to press "E" for blocking.
- Left click on your avatar and hold the left mouse button at all times while in combat in order to be able to rotate your view with a mouse. God helps you if you confuse left and right mouse buttons.
- "C" button does all 4 different types of attacks:
Tap it to do a fast attack.
Press and hold it to do a heavy attack.
Tap it while holding any movement button (WASD) to do a lunge.
Hold it while holding any movement button to do a power attack.
- Double tap any movement key to dodge, but I suggest you activating and using the gesture provided with the system bound on "Space" key.
- Hold "E" button to block.

# 1st person view controls:
- Game designed to be played on 3rd person view, but if you are struggling with the controls - you may use 1st person view.
- Controls are the same as in 3rd person view, but instead of pushing "C" button to attack you may use the left mouse button.
- Enable show avatar in mouselook option to see wtf you're doing. CTRL+P -> Move & View -> Show avatar in Mouselook/Show me in Mouselook.

--- OPTIONAL READING BELOW THIS POINT ---

# Basic tactics:
- Use block to counter attacks. It eats away your stamina according to the damage of the countered attack, so use it wisely. It's easily countered by a power attack.
- Power attack is clunky, slow, but hits very hard. If your opponent is blocking too much, then use a power attack on them and it will eat away all his stamina and cause some damage, exposing him to being stunlocked if he fails to dodge.
- Dodge unlocks immediately after executing a strike, unlike movement and ability to block. The most common use for it is escaping vulnerable situations, like being exposed to enemy attacks after missing.
- Heavy attack deal a great amount of damage and cause significant stun time. You can't escape heavy stunlock by simply trying to move away. The easiest way to escape the heavy stunlock is to block the strike and dodge away.
- Fast attacks cause tiny stuns that will interrupt heavy attacks. If your opponent is using heavy attacks, then just make sure you land your fast attacks before he is able to finish any of his heavy attacks. If he will keep trying to execute a heavy attack while being constantly interrupted, it will look like you are stunlocking him with fast attacks.
- Lunge is a perfect starting attack able to shorten the distance and get straight in somebody's face with winning conditions. It's easy to block, costs a lot, and very easy to miss.
- Standing still with full energy slowly regenerates your HP.
- The less health you have, the slower your movement is.
- Every other tactical aspect is for you to figure out.

# Other things to consider:
- Visually it might lag a little bit before all animations are loaded. So try executing every action before getting involved in combat.
- Your running speed and walking speed are the same while this combat system is attached. Make sure to disable "Always run" to avoid being pushed back a little bit after you stop moving in case of sim lag.
- If nobody around has their sword drawn, then health regeneration gets a boost. Always sheathe your weapon after defeating your opponent in friendly 1v1 matches to reduce idling between fights. Type "sling" to sheathe the weapon, or use the gesture provided with the combat system bound on "F" key. Your weapon also gets sheathed automatically after 30 seconds of inactivity.
- Jumping gets restricted and Movement speed is reduced when somebody around has their sword drawn.
- Combat system is ready for team play! Just check "Same Group are allies" in combat system options window and make sure to be in a same active group. To change the current active group press CTRL+T -> Groups -> Right click and Activate the same group as your allies.
- To hide/open combat system options window just click on the central icon with sword.
- Page up and Page down buttons are duplicating E and C buttons.

Where has this HUD been?

Simple, fun, easy, and amazing. By far this is the most fun I have had with SL metered combat since I joined.

The HUD is simple to use, it doesn't make things complicated with tons of menus, captchas, or complicated controls. It does what it needs to in a very simple design. Three buttons are really all you need other than the WASD controls (C key, E key and spacebar). This makes it easy to explain how to fight and jump right into combat.

This has to be some of the most fun I've had with a HUD...granted I have only used CCS and this but this beats CCS BY FAR. It was so fun because of the simplicity, the easy controls and lack of complicated menus or effects made this HUD what it needed to be to compete. Honestly I could spend hours in an arena just ducking it out one on one with a few friends. The stamina system is perfect, it doesn't feel overly cheap or like it can be used for bullying because you have a better level and now you can dodge which was one of if not THE reason I did not like CCS.

This HUD is easy to set up, use, and moderate from the looks of it. I can not say enough about the simplicity of this HUD. Honestly it's going to be a GREAT combat system and I can't way to see it fleshed out because I will totally be recommending this to the owner of my RP sim for Arena combat.

I really hope this project pulls through and isn't scrapped, and I would LOVE to see some multiple styles for it including two handed and dual-wield styles. Only beef is that it might be a little hard to implement in lag heavy sims but otherwise...this is a great HUD and people should be keeping an eye on it. I would not be surprised if it took SL by storm.

Fun And Efficient
full star full star full star full star full star Posted March 06, 2012 by DakotaJ

I've been playing around with the combat system and I'm quite impressed. It's light and efficient which is great if one decides to get an entire sim involved in combat, and especially now since the update, Animation Overrides don't clash with the overrrides of the combat system whenever the weapon is drawn, making it alot smoother.

The only gripe of mine, which is trivial at best and a bit more like a suggestion is that there's only 2 voice options, a male and female, and I wish I could turn the voice completely off on my character, so I could be like silent protagonist.

Less is more!

Wow, in my opinion this is better than a lot of more complex systems out there. I didn't know a combat system could be this easy to pickup and use on SL until now, and I've tried my share of them.

Please, for the love of god, continue this project.
It would be perfect for all those times ya just want to pick something up and bash on eachother easily with or without any RP experience.
