If you're worried about what might happen to your avatar in Second Life after you pass away, there are steps you can take in your parcel/sim to ensure that your friends are notified of your absence.

One such method is to set up a Dead Avatar's Switch also known as a "dead man's switch," which is essentially an investment that will let your friends know that you are gone and that they should be concerned.

This is how this works. It has a countdown timer hover text, a pretty glow, and it spins ever so slightly, but if you don't click the box once within 10 days, the timer will trigger the following hover text:

"It appears the owner is either unable to access their account or has sadly passed away. May we remember them fondly. ☻♥☺"

You are the only one who can click on the Dead Avatar's Switch. You can also upload your favorite texture.
