Drum Machine Instructions
This is a simple drum machine for use in SL. It is intended primarily for people who are playing a virtual instrument in SL and want a simple backing drum beat. It can also be used however by itself as a fun toy to create simple drum beats and sounds sequences.

HOW IT WORKS
Anyone familiar with a music sequencer and synths should understand pretty easily how this works but for everyone else this is an explanation...
( I'd recommend playing with the drum machine a little and then reading these instructions. It will make more sense if you see what it does! )

1. There are 8 columns. The drum machine scrolls through each column on the beat highlighting it yellow.
2. Each row represents an instrumental track. Clicking one any the 8 boxes on an instrumental track will turn it green.
3. If an instrumental tracks box is green when the beat hits it, then it will play the tracks sound.

4. You can set a sound for the track by clicking on the buttons labeled Track1 - Track8. A drop down menu will appear listing all the sounds available. Click on one to select it.

QUICK TIP: If you have some basic building skills in SL. It is possible to load your own sounds. This is an advanced feature and requires some knowledge of building in SL. I'm afraid I am not able to give individual building lessons but you should find lots of tutorials etc online if you are not familiar with the building tools. In summary you need to drop your sounds into the child prims labeled Track1 through to Track8. When you do this the sounds will appear in the respective tracks sound menu when you click on it.

5. Tempo can be changed with the back and forward tempo arrows

6. If you have a pattern you are particularly fond of you can save it for use later. To do this click on the arrow that points down toward a white line. This will list your current track settings in chat. You should then copy these to the patterns notecard inside the drum machine. You can then access it in future by clicking on the disk item to load a pattern. the section in the track settings labeled [YourPatternName] can be renamed to something else more descriptive. Please give each pattern you save to the notecard a different name.

7. The Stop and Play buttons will start the drum machine and stop it.

NOTE ABOUT LAG
Please note that this is just a fun toy, PLEASE do not take it too seriously. It uses a timer to track the beats so script lag on a sim may cause this to occasionally skip a beat or go out of time briefly.
