Duel of Wills is a minigame. No, scratch that, a microgame. It's meant to simulate psychic combat between two avatars, with only luck and mental strength to decide the victor. The player is able to issue, accept, and reject challenges. After that, the system takes over and the duel is entirely autonomous. That's right, this is a zero-skill game.
As soon as you attach Duel of Wills for the first time, it calculates your starting level. Your level is never revealed to you, but figures into the amount of psychic damage you can sustain and inflict. A new starting level is also auto-calculated every time Duel of Wills is attached by a new owner. Unlike most games, you can't simply gain levels until no-one stands a chance against you. The leveling system is designed so that you'll tend to be equal in power to those you duel frequently.
The game includes three defense modes, three attacks, a powerful rage "defense", and a regen power. It was originally intended to settle roleplay arguments where neither party would back down, and is certainly more spectacular than a coin flip. Particle effects signify what powers you are using, and engaged avatars assume appropriate animations, provided by Daniel Gottlieb.
