Make your own library of real books: text, audio, video - the choice is yours. Your project will have maximum economy for LI & texture import: each e-book has a single prim and requires a single new texture. Either a 3D object or a 2D graphic bookshelf can be used. In the latter case, books are inserted into the graphic surface, so that only the spines of the books are visible.

When your e-book is touched, the script will pull your book out of the shelf by 90% of its width. The direction in which to move the book is calculated from its normal orientation, so your bookshelf can be positioned at any convenient angle (as long as the shelves are horizontal). The brightness of the book is set to full when out of the shelf, and back to environmental when the book is returned. A dialogue box is offered with a link to the online text, audio or video. If 'Go to page' is selected, the text will open in your default browser.

Modifying your books
---------------------------
By default the e-book will return to the shelf after 10s, but if you prefer to have manual control, delete 'auto' from the Description field in Edit mode. The size and shape of the book can be modified to suit the shelf.

Making new books
-------------------------
To make a new book all you have to do is:
1. Copy an existing book and change the Name & Description as required.
2. Make & import a texture which shows the entire external surface of the book, i.e. [back cover][spine][front cover].
3. Apply the texture to these three faces (i.e. not the page edges).
4. Adjust the horizontal scales & offsets if necessary to display only the appropriate parts of the texture.
5. Find the URL of the online version of the book to which you want to link, and replace the URL in the notecard in the book's Contents.

Alternatively, custom books can be supplied for L$20 (including cost of texture).

Supplied with 3 ready-made other-worldly titles: Flatland, by E A Abbott; Lilith, by George MacDonald; A Princess of Mars, by E R Burroughs.

A simple African Sapele wood bookshelf, as illustrated, is included as a starter.
