Hold on a second...
full star full star empty star empty star empty star Posted August 02, 2014 by Nelson Jenkins

I do not consider myself a seasoned pilot, but I do consider myself a perfectionist. That said, there is a long list of faults with this plane that have so far gone un-noticed by anyone other than myself (and a few friends in the aviation community). The sad part - this is unfortunately the "best" large passenger airliner on the market. I'd be delighted to see someone step up to the plate and provide a superior alternative (especially given the extreme demand for an aircraft like this), but it has yet to occur.

In lieu of a point-by-point breakdown, let's just take this chronologically, from rezzing to deleting.

Actually, let's start off by clarifying some ground rules here. Although it's not really respected by aviation companies, Linden Lab has put some very clear rules in place that state you cannot sell products that infringe upon trademarks. I'm pretty sure "737" is trademarked, and although the creator has wisely avoided any use of "Boeing" in the listing, they have still managed to use their easily-recognizable default livery. While I'm not one to kick the bees' nest, it's clear that no originality went into this product. The flip side is that while the creator is happy to ride Boeing's coattails on their world-renowned trademark, they're not keen on actually providing a fully realistic simulation. We'll get to that in a minute, though.

Unfortunately, I've got a lot more to say than just the 2000 characters permitted in a review, so we'll continue this in the comments.

Excellent work! I love this bird ...
full star full star full star full star full star Posted November 16, 2013 by Nickolas Baudin

First of all - I love this bird. Sure, learning it´s flight mechanics took some time. But even without assistance you are pretty good in routine after three or four days - or even more faster, if you have prior experience in SL-Airplane-Avionics or have some support by a tutor, trainer or friend. So from the technical side the B 737 is lovely easy to handle.
Simplicity in use continues in hud concept and flight mechanics. You have two ways to get the bird from Point A to Point B in SL-World: Either you run through the VOICE-SUPPORTED checklists, or you handle the Bird manually by moving through the hud instruments. Naturally, the latter is more complicated, but it can never the less easily be handled if you have some prior experience in simulator or real life flight.
What makes the Boeing also pretty unique is the check-list concept and the rezzers: 1. As stated earlier, you can handle the airplane by going through check lists. So most important processes, like Boarding and Turn-Around, Taxi, Take-off, Cruise and Landing are automatic. But the real thrill is: They are supported by conversations of the cockpit crew. This adds additional realism to flight, since you hear what the "Cap" or "FO" is doing. Meanwhile you can focus on keeping your bird in the air. 2. Another cool idea of the Boeing is the concept of rezzed vehicles: You need a pushback-truck? No problem, you get one and the best thing is - It will push your airliner back for up to 60 meters and then vanishes. You want to have stairs? No problem, just rez some of them before boarding, and your passengers can enter easily. So the airplane has the most realistic approach to flight in SL currently. And of course it has a realistic, yet prim-friendly cockpit view as well.

Anyway, I am pretty much overwhelmed by E-Tech´s Boeing. Thanks for this marvellous product. And for the newbie pilots in SL, just contact Nickolas Baudin, if you need some initial assistance. I like to help.

Have a good flight!

Once you take flight in mouse look, you feel like your sitting right in a flight simulator. Not to mention, your passengers even get treated to a safety video before take off...too cool! Props to the creators on their attention to detail. This 737 will get you and a bunch of your friends to Colorado's Mile High Stadium in no time flat. !!Wootage!!
