A sampan (Chinese: 舢舨; pinyin: shānbǎn; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: sam-pán) is a relatively flat bottomed Chinese wooden boat from 3.5 to 4.5 m (11.5 to 14.8 ft) long. Some sampans include a small shelter on board, and may be used as a permanent habitation on inland waters. Sampans are generally used for transportation in coastal areas or rivers, and are often used as traditional fishing boats. It is unusual for a sampan to sail far from land as they do not have the means to survive rough weather.

Designed for Pirate and Naval War games, SPD compatible (2hp, sinkable, rez wreck), but no weapons onboard.

Elegant!

This is a beautiful little sampan! Clean design, GREAT sculling anim, for which the yuloh is not merely given to you in inventory, but attached to your avi when you accept it, so you don't need to hunt it up first to be underway. Very thoughtful! Handles very well. It's quite fast... for being sculled. Nice sits, conveniently and sensibly placed. With the release of v.1.3, it's moddable too. As Long John Silver said of his parrot, Cap'n Flint, "Aye, she's a handsome craft"!

The only complaint I have about this little gem is that it emits a constant (and rather loud) running-water sound not only while you're aboard, but all the while it's rezzed, which gets really old really fast. I'd leave mine out and moored at my dock when not in use, but the water-noise is just too annoying. Even when the boat's in motion, the sound is like a leaky toilet. If I could find the sound file, I'd delete it, but I can't. This would be 5-star but for the sound issue.
