Details

The Edo Town Ancient Japanese Zen Temple is a must for your Japanese scenery and environment. The building can serve multiple purposes. Set your temple up as a sacret place to pray and thank the gods or use the building as a place for your community to gather. The Temple is perfect for roleplay environments.

Temples are the places of worship in Japanese Buddhism. Virtually every Japanese municipality has at least one temple, while large cultural centers like Kyoto have several thousands. Temples store and display sacred Buddhist objects. Some temples used to be monasteries, and some still function as such. The sacred objects of worship, such as statues, are displayed in the main hall. Main halls are called kondo, hondo, butsuden, amidado or hatto in Japanese. Lecture halls are for meetings and lectures and often also display objects of worship. Lecture halls are called kodo.

All Edo Town buildings and structures are based on architecture to be found around the Kansai region in Japan. The Kansai region lies in the southern-central region of Japan's main island Honshu. The region includes the prefectures of Nara, Wakayama, Kyoto and Shiga. Sometimes Fukui, Tokushima and Mie are also included. While the use of the terms "Kansai" has changed over history, in most contexts the two can be considered the same. The Kansai region is the cultural and historical heart of Japan with 11% of its land area. The area also contains six of the seven top prefectures.

The Kansai region lays claim to the earliest beginnings of Japanese civilization. It was Nara, the most eastern point on the Silk Road, that became the site of Japan's first permanent capital. This period (AD 710-784) saw the spread of Buddhism to Japan in 745. The Kansai region also boasts the Shinto religion's holiest shrine at Ise Shrine (built in 690 AD) in Mie prefecture. The town Hosoi Mura lies in the Japan Kansai sim and is probably the best Japanese Edo period sim in Second Life. Visit the Town to pick up inspiration to start building your own scenery with the wonderful collection of building elements.

Not a single sculpty or mesh. This was made in 2007-2009. Everything is very basic and looks like it took about 2 hours to make. The stairs are non-functional and lead up into the roof. There is no way to get to the second floor.
