This has got to be the handiest gadget ever. Absolutely essential for vehicles -- boats, cars, motorcycles, planes, you name it. Once you've tried it, you won't know how you ever lived without it!

Just attach (or wear) it as a Heads Up Display (HUD). It defaults to attaching to the Center attachment point, but you can attach it to any HUD attachment point you like, then edit it to move it to the desired position on your screen.

The HUD displays the sim as 64 squares. Each square is 1024 sq. meters, and you can click on any square to zoom in (to see that section in full 16 sq. meter resolution).

There are more squares along the outer edges of the HUD. These squares represent the border area of the 4 sims that surround your current sim, showing you where it is safe to cross into the next sim. You can zoom into those areas also. Clicking on one of the outer squares will also tell you (in your local chat) the server channel that sim is running on.

All the squares indicate whether it is safe or not to enter that area by their color:

Bright Red - Area is *completely* obstructed by ban lines

Dull Red - Area is completely obstructed by ban lines, but at your present altitude you are above them so you're safe

Bright Yellow - Area is *partially* obstructed by ban lines

Dull Yellow - Area is partially obstructed by ban lines, but you are above them so you're safe

Bright Green - Area completely clear of ban lines

Blue - Area allows rezzing

Purple - Area contains one or more parcels that are set as private (meaning the option box "Avatars on other parcels can see and chat with avatars on this parcel" in the About Land settings is NOT checked. This information is provided because crossing into or out of a parcel set to private can mess up camera controls if you are crossing a sim border at the same time

Clicking on the outer circle of the HUD brings up a menu which allows you to configure any of the following:

* A warning tone which alerts if you get too close to danger
* A speedometer, heading indicator, and altimeter
* An odometer (distance travelled indicator)
* Ability to show any Linden Owned land
* Ability to show parcels set to private
* Ability to show where any rez zones are

It is really easy to use, it is fast, and it is easy on sim
resources. Also, updates are free for life!

Enjoy!
Triple Peccable

Caveats: This HUD cannot detect ban lines that are up because the land owner requires Payment Info On File or Age Verified. The way to avoid this problem is to have payment information on file with LL and be age verified. :)

It also can't tell if you have been banned from an area by name. The way to avoid this problem is to be nice and don't get yourself banned from a bunch of places. :)

Having the Show Linden Land option turned on slows down the refresh speed of the HUD slightly. If you want to HUD to update its display faster and you have no need to show where the Linden Land is, leave this option turned off.

There is a notecard in the HUD called "Special Land
Settings Notecard" that allows you to customize what land the HUD considers "Linden Land". Read that notecard for more information.

Very useful HUD that works great. I bought it for my best friend and myself and we both are very pleased with it. We can recommend it.

Really useful for Sailing unknown areas

I always liked to sail on SL...but it was so hard navigating around with all ban lines...non rezzing zones. Thanks to this HUD i have been having great fun sailing, discovery new places and have it all logged...And the waypoints is so useful once you know who to use them. It works how i expected and more ...so it gets 5 stars from me.

Incredibly useful HUD for exploring

I have this on whenever I am flying, and it helps tremendously. Security orbs can still be a problem, but are in general easy to avoid and typically give me enough time to scoot out of their range. It does take a moment to load when crossing into a new sim, but that is to be expected as it needs to fetch the data.

Without this HUD, I get ejected after a few minutes of flying, with it I spent a couple of hours yesterday flying at 50 km/h, without being ejected once on the mainland. It is important to note to keep out of the range of skyboxes. I flew lower to the ground, at around 200 - 300 meters so there would be less of a chance of running into them. It does take a few seconds to load after entering a sim, but without it I would have no clue where to navigate and would be ejected frequently

The HUD has been around for years, and is updated at no expense, the scripting never fails me, it is a solid product that I would recommend to anyone. Kudos to the creator for making such a great product.

LONG TIME USER

I have been using this wonderful device for years. I think the first version I had was 4 and I have continued to get updates along the way. Now comes ver 8.1... I use FS's current ver and have NO PROBLEMS DETACHING IT FROM MY DESKTOP. I works faster than previous ver and i love it. Before I initially bought this hud I was always getting stuck in ban lines of simple sent home. This really screws with scripts and causes down time to fix problems caused by getting stuck. A friend told me about it and I have used it all these years. I dont even check around to find any competing products (dont even know if there are any) cuz this one is paid for and it works so well, The creator is more than willing to respond to any questions i had about the product. IF YOU FLY, BOAT, RACE or anything involving moving across SL GET THIS HUD, you wont be disappointed 6 STARS

Disappointing

I'm no newbie or novice pilot, and when I bought this HUD, I knew how to use it. I've also been using this HUD for months, so it's been tested thoroughly by me - and I haven't rushed right back here to leave negative comments. I really wanted this HUD to work. Unfortunately it didn't work well for me. I use Firestorm, and it'd freeze up constantly, rendering it useless. I'd go to detach it, and it wouldn't detach until I relogged. I'm very aware of grid conditions which could play a part in the HUD malfunctioning, but every time I used it? No, I don't think so.

When it worked, it worked well - it just didn't work that often without freezing up. I'm giving this HUD 2 stars because it would work occasionally, but I also spent a lot of Lindens for something that to me, should've worked well the first time and every time thereafter.

I am a novice when it comes to sailing on SL and the Blake Sea. Since I was so new (2 months now) I was spending most of my time in open ocean learning. Well I thought I had the experience now to try to explore some of the Islands SL has that can explored. However, getting to them was a lot harder then I ever dreamed it would be. I had not idea why I was being ejected from the boat and losing my boats lol I was not riding on property lines or doing anything I thought was wrong with the handling of the boat. I am not use to ban lines because the ocean community I live in believes in a free passage water way, put one out and you are gone from the community.
Then I lost a boat and never got it back... not until the SL Coast Guard while on patrol, found it and sent me the name and location of the property the boat was sitting on. They had their property set for no auto return. I was able to actually fly close enough to the boat and click take and got my boat back. The reason I am saying all of this is simple. In this area of SL water I hit 3 banlines i had no idea were there, the water was is pretty much blocked.
The SL Coast Guard gave me a website for the entire water ways of SL and the name of Explorer's Hud which I purchased right away, its the huds the SL Coast Guard uses on their boats. I was assured this was the best Banline (plus) Hud on all of SL. And it is!!!!
Its easy to use even for a novice sailor such as I am, and it works very well. I felt like I had control now not the owners of the banlines that they placed so far out from their land. I saw the banlines and heard the alert tones, I was able to steer away from them in plenty of time. I won't sail without the hud up and running now. Its awesome, so well designed and so many features to it that you can custom adjust a hud that is right for you and your sailing or flying habits. Great, Great Job... well worth every linden I paid for it. Thank you again !!! Sorry for the long review!!
