This has got to be the handiest gadget ever. Absolutely essential for vehicles -- boats, cars, motorcycles, planes, you name it. Once you've tried it, you won't know how you ever lived without it!
Just attach (or wear) it as a Heads Up Display (HUD). It defaults to attaching to the Center attachment point, but you can attach it to any HUD attachment point you like, then edit it to move it to the desired position on your screen.
The HUD displays the sim as 64 squares. Each square is 1024 sq. meters, and you can click on any square to zoom in (to see that section in full 16 sq. meter resolution).
There are more squares along the outer edges of the HUD. These squares represent the border area of the 4 sims that surround your current sim, showing you where it is safe to cross into the next sim. You can zoom into those areas also. Clicking on one of the outer squares will also tell you (in your local chat) the server channel that sim is running on.
All the squares indicate whether it is safe or not to enter that area by their color:
Bright Red - Area is *completely* obstructed by ban lines
Dull Red - Area is completely obstructed by ban lines, but at your present altitude you are above them so you're safe
Bright Yellow - Area is *partially* obstructed by ban lines
Dull Yellow - Area is partially obstructed by ban lines, but you are above them so you're safe
Bright Green - Area completely clear of ban lines
Blue - Area allows rezzing
Purple - Area contains one or more parcels that are set as private (meaning the option box "Avatars on other parcels can see and chat with avatars on this parcel" in the About Land settings is NOT checked. This information is provided because crossing into or out of a parcel set to private can mess up camera controls if you are crossing a sim border at the same time
Clicking on the outer circle of the HUD brings up a menu which allows you to configure any of the following:
* A warning tone which alerts if you get too close to danger
* A speedometer, heading indicator, and altimeter
* An odometer (distance travelled indicator)
* Ability to show any Linden Owned land
* Ability to show parcels set to private
* Ability to show where any rez zones are
It is really easy to use, it is fast, and it is easy on sim
resources. Also, updates are free for life!
Enjoy!
Triple Peccable
Caveats: This HUD cannot detect ban lines that are up because the land owner requires Payment Info On File or Age Verified. The way to avoid this problem is to have payment information on file with LL and be age verified. :)
It also can't tell if you have been banned from an area by name. The way to avoid this problem is to be nice and don't get yourself banned from a bunch of places. :)
Having the Show Linden Land option turned on slows down the refresh speed of the HUD slightly. If you want to HUD to update its display faster and you have no need to show where the Linden Land is, leave this option turned off.
There is a notecard in the HUD called "Special Land
Settings Notecard" that allows you to customize what land the HUD considers "Linden Land". Read that notecard for more information.
- Shows where all the ban lines in the sim are
- Shows where it is safe to cross into the next sim
- Shows current position, heading, speed, and distance travelled
- Warning tone sounds if you get too close to danger
- Shows where the rez zones are, and where any Linden Land is
Black Ops Friendly
I run black operations at blake sea and this hud is great for my activities, as i cant go above 32m (Rply considering lowest radar signals are 32m above the ground... Usaly) it helps me stear clear of banlines and i have yet to hit a banline using this hud. Its a great tool VERY easy to understand, Easy to use just right click and wear. Fix or rotate on the banline map is easy to do. I have never lost a priso... I mean cargo from hitting banlines thus far. Excellent tool, Money well spent. And do note that some regions may be outdated so far my most outdated encounter with a region was 67 days, how ever once you enter a sim again it will refresh.
Nice and easy to use
Clear tool, very easy to use. My compliments!
Seriously the most useful thing I own
This HUD is essential for any explorer or vehiclist in Second Life. There are other gadgets that warn of banlines, but this one takes into account your elevation and also warns of full parcels (even more sinister than banlines since they can't be flown over). It's super easy to use and read. It seemed pricey to me at first, but after using it for about a week I have yet to get stuck on a ban line or go desperately searching for rez zones, etc. WORTH EVERY L$!
Awesome Tool and Recomendable to every single Explorer on SL
This tool just ROCKS! It saved me lots of time while sneaking through the Grid! No blind Flighing against Banlines or unwanted Stops caused by overloaded Sims!
The Support is great aswell, if there are issues, they ll be solved in no Time.
Thank you!
Best Regards
Fantastic!
I used to dream about something that did what this does .. great work!
One of the best huds ever!!
I was looking for something like this for awhile. A friend found this and gifted this
exact hud. I gotta say, its very useful for exploring. Granted, there are some
limitations like sims that need to be entered to be updated, but for the most
part, the map is very reliable. You can zoom in on the individual region and find
out where you can and can't go. There's even a audible tone when you get close
to a ban line. Wish the max volume was a little louder, but does its function, and
I'm happy with it.
Really good for rezzing objects like vehicles and stuff. You can never have too
many places to rez in my opinion. The only person to blame is linden labs for not
having something like this feature on their built-in map display. If your an explorer
like me, or just having a hard time finding a spot to rez something, this is the one
thing you need.
There's another banline hud for cheaper, but this does alot more, I highly recommend
this one. Once again, great product, highly enjoyed it.
