Exquisite Medieval Ashkenaz Wedding Set Gift Box

In 1998, a hoard of gold items was discovered in a wall in Erfurt Germany which were hidden there in 1349. It included a beautifully crafted solid gold wedding ring that featured a miniature gothic tower capped by a faceted roof. This collection is inspired by these rare and beautiful jewellery items from the 14th century.

The Exquisite Medieval Ashkenaz Wedding Collection includes two rings, the above mentioned wedding ring and a man's wedding band and an animated presentation box. Both rings are made of prims only and do not include sculpts.

According to some scholars of this period, the ring was possibly used as a "community" ring and used in many weddings from the Jewish community living in Erfurt at the time. Although today brides and grooms exchange rings, there is no indication of a man's ring for this purpose in the hoard. Historically, the bride's wedding band was placed on her RIGHT forefinger, which is how this ring is fitted. Naturally, you can refit it any way you like.

The animated display box shows the rings and when attached, your avatar drops to one knee and presents the ring - probably not historically accurate since betrothal and marriage was a highly ritualized process in the 14th century! :)

The rings are resizable (scripts can be removed and this is recommended as it is high prim), and both come gift boxed.

I really love doing projects like this because they make me try things I have never done before - and I hope you like it.

NOTE ABOUT BENTO

All rings work with BENTO hands when attached to LEFT RING FINGER or RIGHT RING FINGER. These points were added by Linden Lab in December 2016. When I create a ring I set the initial attachment point – in all cases before that date, the LEFT HAND. If you wear a ring attached to LEFT HAND, it will not move with BENTO hands. You need to move it to LEFT RING FINGER.
