An unfortunate reality of hands in Second Life is that for too long they have been limited to just a couple of built in poses which can cause issues for great photography or interacting with objects in a realistic manner.
With this in mind I created this Hand Poser HUD to provide a simple and intuitive interface for posing your Bento enabled hands in a position that works best for your needs.
This HUD requires Bento enabled hands to work.
Step 1. Wear the FATE Hand Poser HUD
Step 2. Simply click and drag sliders on the HUD to pose them
FEATURES
1. Export your Pose (PRO version only)
You can now export your custom bento hand poses with the click of a button. Simply pose your fingers then press the export button, follow the link in chat and save the page as a .bvh file to your computer. Poses will be available for download for at least 30 days.
2. Save Your Pose
To save your current finger poses simply click the 'save' button on any of the presets. Click the preset button to apply it in the future.
3. Puppeteer
You can now animate other avatar's hands, this is great for photographers with multiple avatars to pose. Simply click the Puppeteer button and select a nearby avatar. That avatar will need to accept animation permissions and also be wearing bento enabled hands.
4. AO
You can now use your FATE Hand Poser HUD as a custom bento hand animation override. Click the 'AO Settings' button and click 'LIST' on the popup menu to configure which preset poses are used in the AO. Your avatar will switch to a random pose in this list during random intervals (as long as the HUD is attached).
5. Minimise/Maximise
The FATE Hand Poser HUD now has more UI control, allowing a full minimise and maximise of the HUD, Hand Controllers or Presets Panels individually to allow for greater visibility, you can also scale the HUD to your own preferences using the build tools.
For best results, disable any built in AO for your bento hands through their HUD or by manually stopping your animations.

Worked perfectly with Anypose, does EXACTLY what it is intended to do, super easy to use...
I have been making poses for personal and commercial use using Anypose, and am tickled pink to see that this hand poses is compatible with it. It worked seamlessly the first time I used it.. within 3 minutes I had my pose made, exported it, downloaded it to my hard rive, then uploaded into SL. The hands were posed exactly as I had wanted them, no issues at all. I am not sure why other reviewers are giving this a low rating? Perhaps they didn't read the description clearly? This simply says that it works with Anypose to pose hands so you can make your pose with Anypose and have your hands posed as well.. perfect! For me it was well worth the cost, and appreciate the hard work that went into making this, as well as the fact that these creators collaborated to bring us a great product.. so thank you!!
Excellent
I bought this because I wanted to make better and realistic poses inside SL because I have no skills outside. And this is perfect. Thank you, simple and very good for that, even to simple grab objects on SL like apple or gun.
It's fine for only in SL
If you're looking to just pose hands within SL this thing is great it does exactly as it should without giving you that weird blocky disjointed mesh hand look which is fantastic. Slightly disappointed with the fact that the exported BVH cannot be imported into other animation software to be coupled with a complete pose. Granted the product does not state it can do this, that was more my assumption when I saw the ability to export into BVH that I would also be able to bring into other programs. If it is possible, it's not stated exactly how creator intended it to be used in other programs and pulls errors when importing into things like blender.
BUT if you're a blogger looking to just edit hand poses this really is great it does what it says it should. Not sure I understand the point of exporting to BVH if it's just the hand that's animating so if you're looking to edit existing full body poses for a photo, I'd save money and not get the pro.
Also to be noted, creator did put in other reviews that they were working on potentially making the BVH compatible to export into programs. If that does come out in an update I think this product would be absolutely perfect. I would suggest to creator to potentially add in their description that it cannot be used externally to avoid that confusion for the time being as other competing products also don't specifically state that their BVH files can be used in things like Blender but can be.
Unable to use
I currently make poses from scratch in Blender and find that easier to do than whatever it is I need to do to make the export feature work. The poser only version is great but I paid the 3000L for this feature alone because I was hoping I would get more accurate posing for the mesh bodies, however after exporting, you don't just import them into Blender. It requires mapping of points and who knows what else. I will gladly update review if I ever hear back from creator. Would NOT recommend buying this if you ahve any intention of exporting the BVH
WOW! AWESOME!
I've been using Qavimator for bento hands and it's not easy. I know everyone prefers Blender but there's a really steep learning curve for that which I lack the patience and time for. This, however makes posing hands very easy and intuitive. The only slight issue is that when you export a pose, it may be very slightly different compared to how it looked in SL. For example if you pose your hand to very precisely hold a cell phone (that's possible with this) and then export it and upload the bvh, you'll probably have to adjust the position of the cell phone a bit to get it looking as good as it did when posing live. It's not a problem but it's something the buyer should be aware of before purchasing. You also can't move the fingertip joints independently. You can just kinda adjust the curl of the outermost two segments of your fingers with one slider. In most cases that won't be an issue and will actually make the posing process simpler but you may run into a pose or two where it won't give you exactly what you want. One last thing - and it may only be because I just bought it and used it for the first time today - if you only pose one hand, the other hand will be stiff and straight with fingers splayed. You have to pose both (unless I haven't found the trick to doing just one). There are some built-in poses that you can select so if you're only doing one hand, pick one of those pre-fab poses that makes sense for the hand you're not posing and then start on the hand you want to pose. You can also fix the splayed hand by using your hands' own animator (if you have one) if it lets you select only left or right. Regardless of these very minor issues that are easily worked around, this is worth every penny. If you care about having your hands doing things correctly, this is indispensable. Just buy it. You'll love it.
