GENERAL INFORMATION

The overall resolution of this seven prim Federation map is 2560w x 2048h. It is scaled so that there are exactly 100 pixels per 20 ly (light years). The map covers an area of space that is 500 ly x 400 ly. Of course, the map is meant just for role-play and only has two dimensions. Hopefully this map will help Star Trek role play groups standardize distances between the various planets/objects in the Star Trek universe. The picture in this description does not do the map justice. See the map detail picture that shows the area around Sol for a better idea of how the map looks when you zoom into it.

Two sizes of the map are provided. A wall size (about 3.75 x 3 meters) and a mini-size (about 0.75 x 0.6). You can also re-size it yourself to your liking.

MENU

Touch the frame of the map to bring up a menu. The menu allows you request a Help notecard and lets you select one of following three modes/options:

1) One-Touch Mode - Each time you touch the map you get the distance from Sol in light years (ly) and the x/y coordinates (in ly) of the point you touched. The coordinates are relative to Sol ( which is 0, 0 ).

2) Two-Touch Mode - In this mode you can measure the distance between any two touches (locations) on the map. Simply zoom-in and touch the starting point, then zoom-out/zoom-in and touch the ending point. You will be told the Total distance between the two touched points as well as the x and y distances between those two points. You will also be given the azimuth heading from the first location to the second location. A heading of 0° is straight up the map, 90° is to the right, 180° is down, 270° is to the left, etc. After the first two touches, each touch will measure the distance from the prior touch to the current touch.

3) Map Index Mode - When the Map Index is ON you can look up the map location for a planet/region to help you find it on the map. Note that the map has labels A through Y across the top and labels 1 through 20 on the left side. When in Map Index Mode, you can't measure any new distances but you can request the travel time for any previous distance that you measured.

WHO CAN USE THE MAP

The map can be used by either the owner or by anyone in the same group that the map is set to. To set the map group, right click the map, left click Edit, then left click the General tab. Now left click the "Group:" wrench icon at the right and select the group you want to have access.

TRAVEL TIME - FOR A MAP DISTANCE

You can find out how long it takes to travel the last map distance at any warp factor from 1.0 to 9.999. Before this function works, you must first measure a distance on the map using the One-Touch or Two-Touch mode.

Just type the following into your chat bar:

/33 w warpfactor

Replace 'warpfactor' above with a warp factor number from 1.0 to 9.999

Example you type in:
/33 w 7.4
or
/33w7.4

You will get a response that looks like this:
105.6 ly takes 48.84 days at warp 7.40
In this example, the last measured map distance was 105.6 ly.

As seen in the above example, there is no need to enter in the last map distance. Spaces and capitalization don't matter.

TRAVEL TIME - FOR ANY DISTANCE

The map also has a simple "calculator" that you can use to determine the travel time for ANY warp factor and ANY distance.

For example, if you want to know the travel time to go 25.2 ly at warp 7.5 you can enter in chat:
/33 w 7.5, 25.2 ly
or
/33 w7.5, 25.2ly
or
/33w7.5,25.2ly

The map responds:
25.2 ly takes 11.14 days at warp 7.50
