UPDATED: 27 November 2016 - Changed from sculptie to mesh to drastically reduce avatar rendering cost and we have reduced script memory by half.
Introducing the bat swarm avatar.
(See bottom of the page for demo and related products).
Bats are nocturnal and associated with many myths and legends of the night. They are a powerful image for most and can be used to help enhance the darker side of a character. If you are a demon, vampire, wraith, goth, sorcerer / wizard / sorceress, elemental spirit or even a powerful dragon this avatar can give you an alternative traveling and interaction form to roleplay in. Or even if you just want something different when you go shopping.
The avatar features;
- smoothly animated swarming bats. (highly effective animated texture on a sculpt prim).
- specially created AO to enhance the swarms movements.
- subtle particles when you walk/run/fly (poofer is optional).
- optional sounds of bats chittering.
The bat avatar uses under 900kb (was 1.8mb) of script memory since the update.
Though this is a simple avatar in essence, it has been made with the darker side of night to hand and chaos in mind.

a much needed update
When i first bought this 'avatar' it was years ago and it's avatar complexity was off the scale.it was a laggy mess even with how good it looked and i could only wear part of the swarm
years later i got it again and found it had been updated. it's more like the bat aura now in that it's a thick swarm of bats that circle the middle of your avatar rather then the pictured massive shifting swarm. the detail's gone down but it's FAR more sane on it's cost which makes me happy i can actually *USE* it. think of this as the big version of their bat aura. for this price i'm happy with what i got for my two vampires.
For me: really good animated...
... and I am impressed of that avatar. I love it and I have fun watching the activities of the bats.
But the downside of this is the high ARC (= "Avatar Rendering Complexity") - see also "JellyDolls".
This avatar has more than 530000 ARC and the Linden Labs viewer has a standard setting of max. 80000 ARC (Firestorm viewer in Ultra settings up to 350000 as standard setting). Everyone can increase the ARC in his settings up to "No Limit" - if they want and if they know about.
So maybe not many other people will see this avatar in his details, they will see a "JellyDoll" instead or some Sims or land owners will block you, if you wear an avatar with high ARC.
But for all that you get an alpha too your avatar becomes really invisible and if you only wear the bat alpha, shape, skin and hidehair (without all the bats) you have an ARC under 1000 (really good for fairy events in SL with high lag). Your avatar throws no shadow anymore and if you wear the bats too (the ARC will shoot up than) the bats throw a lot of little bat shadows (in dependence of your graphics settings).
Love it
I love this Avatar! I get so many comments about it, most are good though some people say that it lags a few people.
excellent
Works great & is exactly what I was looking for. 5*
One of my new favorite avatars!
I just put this on and have gotten so many compliments! I have now built a smoke avatar and I have a big demon bat and this is perfect as a transformation avatar or just hanging out. Great work!
