Google-Calendar™ "gmail.com" Events Board Version 5
Just maintain your (free) personal-style "abc.xyz@gmail.com" Calendar and this board will display your upcoming events. To get a free Calendar for you or your group just go to http://support.google.com/calendar and click "Create-An-Account" for your (or your groups) "abc.xyz@gmail.com" account.
NOTE: it works immediately with the normal 'personal' style "gmail.com" calendars, it takes one extra (documented) step with group calendars or non-default calendars -- there is a SETUP notecard describing the one extra step you must perform to access such group or non-default calendars.
There are many COMPLEX boards available to display Calendar events in Second Life®, but many require a PHP (or JavaScript, etc.) program running on a web-server that queries the calendar and then re-forwards information to your Second Life® board. This means you need to go through a setup of a program on a private web-server for your specific calendar(s), and your ongoing operations are dependent on that server +program being available.
This board was specifically designed to be *VERY* simple. It uses simple PUBLIC "abc.xyz@gmail.com " Calendars and talks directly to them to query upcoming events. It displays date, time, and event name, and if click on an event it will open that calendar event in your web browser.
You rez our board in-world, edit its description field to be your calendar name (usually something like abc.xyz@gmail.com ) and you are all set. it refreshes its data once per hour, and/or anytime someone presses ">" NEXT or "<" PREV to see additional events. The total number of events loaded depends on the amount of information in your calendar events, but is less than 14 days (default) or 15 upcoming events.
Since more lines and characters-per-line cost more prims (Land Impact) there are MANY different sizes supplied so you can chose what fits your needs (each in black & white and a sample textured versions)
- 4x40 (35 prims)
- 6x40 (51 prims)
- 6x50 (63 prims, 73-prims with title line)
- 8x50 (93 prims with title line)
- 10x50 (113 prims with title line)
NOTE: The calendar board contains a config notecard that you can (optionally) edit to set the various text colors & background, days-to-fetch, etc.
So if you want SIMPLE operations and FAST viewer display of the CORE INFORMATION (date, time, event name) then this is the board for you.
