Grand Bureau du Roi -C&G-
Designed after the “Bureau du Roi" the most famous piece of furniture in the chateau de Versailles, this sumptuous cylindrical desk was made by J.F. Oeben and finished by his most skillful disciple Jean-Henri Riesener and delivered in 1769 for the use of Louis XV in his private working cabinet. (where it remained during the reign of Louis XVI, and where still stands to this today).
The desk, covered with various floral and military designs in marquetry in satinwood, porcelain plaques of serves, gilt and chiseled bronze mounts, lion macaroons, pawns garlands of laurel leaves, candelabras in rocaille style and crowning the top, vases with gilt bronze flowers flaming in the corners and a clock in the center.
the desk opens to reveal an equally faithfully reproduced interior covered in green velvet.
